I love most books that center around the Romanovs and this “what if” story center around Maria and what could‘ve happened had she lived. To be fair this book does have its slow plodding bits but overall it was a good read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me.

A powerful family tragedy, full of emotion and based on rich historical research, yet not a memorable novel
What if Maria, not Anastasia, was the Romanov daughter who survived. What would her life have been like? And how could she possibly be connected to an abused wife living in Australia? Paul‘s novel imagines just this scenario in a completely engrossing historical fiction. Full review at https://booknaround.blogspot.com/2019/08/review-lost-daughter-by-gill-paul.html
Y‘all, my husband made me socialize two evenings in a row. I might be done for the rest of the year! I‘m going to curl up in the couch and read, ignoring all other things in an effort to recharge.
Very good. Loved the gripping nature of this book, even though I had worked out the twist early on it was still worth the journey to see if I was right. Highly recommended especially if you have read The Secret Wife as it does allude to the story but it's not necessary to have read it. Thank you #Netgalley for a proof copy even though I did mainly read my print copy.

I thought I'd had a bad reading month this month but looking back I finished 7 books and reviewed a picture book via #netgalley so not too bad!
Favourites were Despised and Rejected and The Lost Daughter 😍
Wow. Give me more Gill Paul please. I could not put this down, amazing! A gripping take on the Romanov story, this one from the aspect of Maria. This had me laughing, crying and kept me guessing. So many mysteries and even one that wasn't fully resolved, which I think was the authors intention. 5🌟#netgalley
Enjoying this arc from #netgalley immensely. I've always been interested in the lives of the Romanovs and their tragic end. Gill Paul is handling it beautifully in this work of fiction. I shall certainly be looking up more after I have finished. I will say though, trigger warnings for rape and DV if you do wish to read it. Those bits caught me unawares 😔
Next up from #netgalley on my review tbr! I quite like the fact these are on Kindle, I can read them anywhere. I always like to have a book on the go on my kindle and I now have at least 6 to work my way through. I've also been selected for auto approval for all books by the publisher of my previous review book! 😄 Loving netgalley!
