It was good but the ending wasn‘t super satisfying, it felt like a lot of loose ends, as well as Anne being quite whiny and ungrateful at times, it almost felt disrespectful to read at times.

It‘s about what Anne Frank may have been like had she lived. It is EXCELLENT!!

HISTORICAL FICTION - HOLOCAUST - WORLD WAR II
ANNELIES is about Anne Frank and describes what the author thinks she would have been like had she lived.
Mr. Gillham did an outstanding job of researching as well as using a creative method of portraying Anne Frank‘s life as it may have been even though she did not survive the Holocaust.

Has anyone read this yet
The Diary of Anne Frank is a favorite read from middle school so when I saw this book reimagining a world where she survives I couldn't pass it up.
I appreciated that the author showed us the dark side of surviving. Anne was angry, distrustful of the people she once loved, and she was so overcome with guilt that she had a hard time moving past everything. She uses her writing though to help her heal, and it's a beautiful process to see unfold.
Interesting book!
I like how it doesn't start when she comes out of camp.
I think a lot of people who have read Anne's Diary think about the "what if" and seeing her grow up in a way is nice and refreshing
This was entertaining, but frustrating. Understandably, the author would not want to mess with anne Frank and her story, but it felt timid and as though anne and her father did not evolve or learn.
Because apparently I feel like I need to wreck my psyche this #reversereadathon by consuming WWII fiction. I‘ll admit, I wasn‘t enamored with Anne Frank as a child; maybe this had to do with being a precocious reader, because by the time it was assigned in school I‘d already read plenty of (horrifying for a young child) books about the Holocaust. But I‘m really interested in this speculative book.
THIS BOOK. It wrecked me in all the right ways. Have you ever read The Diary of Anne Frank? It is a lifelong favorite of mine—I‘ve read it probably 10 times and have also read a lot of supplementary books about Anne‘s life and death as well. This book is a fictional tale imagining Anne‘s post-war years if she had lived, and wow. Well-researched, heartbreaking, and hopeful. So, so well done. This one will be with me for awhile.
What if Anne Frank survived? That is the question this book seeks to answer.

Looking forward to adding this to my #weekendreads as my hold just came in!
Hope you‘re all stacked up with good books!
An alternate history in which Anne Frank survives the Holocaust. It is difficult to describe how I feel after finishing this book. It makes me wonder more about the survivors‘ lives after the end of the war. We read about war experiences, but not much about their struggles of adjusting to society again. Heartbreaking and beautiful, this book gave me a lot to think about.
So much good #bookmail this year so far. Gillham imagines Anne Frank‘s life had she survived the Holocaust. Looking forward to reading this one!

Anne seems as though she was and would have been a feisty young lady that the world has missed and could have learned from. 5/5
