Get Me Out of Here!
Get Me Out of Here! | James Patterson, Chris Tebbetts
5 posts | 6 read | 1 to read
Live large with James Patterson's winning follow-up to Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life, the #1 New York Times bestseller that inspired the major motion picture. After sixth grade, the very worst year of his life, Rafe Khatchadorian thinks he has it made in seventh grade. He's been accepted to art school in the big city and imagines a math-and-history-free fun zone. Wrong! It's more competitive than Rafe ever expected, and to score big in class, he needs to find a way to turn his boring life into the inspiration for a work of art. His method? Operation: Get a Life! Anything he's never done before, he's going to do it, from learning to play poker to going to a modern art museum. But when his newest mission uncovers secrets about the family Rafe's never known, he has to decide if he's ready to have his world turned upside down.

I can‘t believe I‘m doing this. I loved doing my #travelingbook that is being held by another Litten. But this is shorter and @suvata does such a bomb job hosting I thought I would throw in. How about a Middle Grade reading group for group I?

Avanders Another fun one!! I signed up already, but your group will be awesome! 🦄🌈👏🏽👏🏽 6y
Johanna414 If I didn‘t love the group I‘ve been with for the last few rounds, I‘d be all over this! 6y
LibrarianRyan @Johanna414 yeahhhhh. I‘m thinking the newest Newbery since I already have a copy. 6y

LibrarianRyan @Johanna414 then again maybe not. I have doooooo many. Picking just one might be hard. 6y
Johanna414 @LibrarianRyan I always agonize over what book to pick! 6y
MeganAnn I joined your group! My son said he wants to read the books with me and it‘ll be fun for us to read, write notes, and see everyone else‘s notes together! He‘s got a ton of great MG books we haves gotten around to reading yet. 6y
WanderingBookaneer I joined your group! I bought two contenders today, but I fear you may have read them: 6y
WanderingBookaneer @MeganAnn : 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y
LibrarianRyan @WanderingBookaneer nope. I don‘t own those already both looked really good. I think I have my list narrowed down to 9 but I think I want to see what everyone chooses first and then fill the gap with something not represented. Maybe? I just can‘t make up my mind. 6y
WanderingBookaneer I know! It‘s hard to narrow it down, but I am very curious about your 9. 6y
MeganAnn @WanderingBookaneer I'm so glad you joined this group! My son and I have been wanting The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise but haven't purchased it yet so that'd be great. We loved Some Kind of Courage by the same author. Looking at the other one you mentioned, I think that sounds great also. So either one is an excellent choice! 6y
WanderingBookaneer @MeganAnn : Thank you! I‘m happy to be here with you. I guess we have to wait to see what the fourth person says. (edited) 6y
LibrarianRyan @MeganAnn have you and your son started talking about your book choice? What types of things does he like or already have read. 6y
MeganAnn And Jilly P sounds good too! So hard to choose... We will have to look through some options tomorrow. 6y
LibrarianRyan @Readergrrl I believe you are part of our group. What are you interested in? 6y
LibrarianRyan @WanderingBookaneer I have that one too (I think, my MG shelves are a bit of a mess right now). Have you read George by the same author? 6y
MeganAnn @LibrarianRyan we looked a little bit tonight before he went to bed but didn't come to any concrete choices yet. We like to read a variety of things and I usually encourage lots of genres. He's read some Percy Jackson, a couple other Rick Riordan, and similar books like that. We read Wonder together and loved that also. He likes mystery, fantasy, historical fiction especially set around war times and humorous books. He's reading this right now: 6y
WanderingBookaneer I did read George, but I didn‘t love it. I feel terrible writing that, but I just thought everything was handled too perfectly. I wanted something a bit more real. Have you read it? If so, what‘s your opinion? 6y
LibrarianRyan @WanderingBookaneer I haven‘t read it yet. It‘s been on my list but just a few months ago I read an interview with the author where she said she got so much wrong they wished they could change it. Had me wondering. 6y
WanderingBookaneer I would have to agree. I prefer 6y
WanderingBookaneer Which makes me feel guilty because that one is not #OwnVoices 6y
LauraBeth I love middle grade books! I look forward to seeing what y‘all decide to read. 6y
LibrarianRyan @LauraBeth it should be fun. It‘s just the narrowing it down part. Too many potentially good ones to choose. 6y
LauraBeth So many good choices! It seems that YA books always get the spotlight (maybe because there‘s more cross-over audience appeal?), but I personally think this is a golden age for middle grade books. So many great books being written. 6y
LibrarianRyan @LauraBeth I agree. Plus YA is getting so YA. So much older content. Great stuff for MG and younger YA but it doesn‘t get as much recognition and it should. 6y
MeganAnn @WanderingBookaneer my son said his first choice would be 6y
LibrarianRyan @WanderingBookaneer I just looked up Night owl. That looks like such a fun book! 6y
WanderingBookaneer I know! I‘m excited about that one. 6y

Many funny spots. Shows kids how they get into much of what they do. He suffered a lot of bullying too. However, very satisfying ending.

We always try to go to the library Fridays after school. They close early that day, but then we are well supplied for the weekend. Jiraiya was giggling all the way home so I‘m pretty sure he‘d say this one is a “pick.”

Mshookquilts Hey, that‘s on my reading list a couple months out. :D 7y

Left school yesterday feeling like this. Summer break! I took about 20 books from my #classroomlibrary home for the summer to read.

Nat_Reads Happy Break! Our last day is June 5th... 😐 8y
Daisey I know the feeling! My last day was Thursday, but I need to go back this next week to finish reorganizing. I also packed up a box of books to share with my nephew for the summer. 8y
tjwill @Nat_Reads Good luck with the end of your school year! @Daisey That's so kind of you to take home books for your nephew! I hope he loves them! 8y
