pick🎧 Loved this fantasy mystery told by a brother Jovan (the royal food taster) & his sister Kalina.
My favorite thing was the 32 inter-chapter poisons! Jovan names one then runs thru symptoms, scent, taste, treatment, lethality, etc.
Chapters switch between Jovan & Kalina‘s POV. Jovan‘s the main & stronger character. I found myself looking forward to his chapters. As an army closes in they attempt to solve the mystery & defend the city.

pickA well plotted story with an interesting framing device. I was occasionally frustrated by the characters. They had some strange blind spots. But still, worth reading.
