Grace After Henry
Grace After Henry: A funny and poignant novel, perfect for fans of Marian Keyes | Eithne Shortall
13 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
Grace sees her boyfriend Henry everywhere. In the supermarket, on the street, at the graveyard. Only Henry is dead. He died two months earlier, leaving a huge hole in Grace's life and in her heart. But then Henry turns up to fix the boiler one evening, and Grace can't decide if she's hallucinating or has suddenly developed psychic powers. Grace isn't going mad - the man in front of her is not Henry at all, but someone else who looks uncannily like him. The hole in Grace's heart grows ever larger. Grace becomes captivated by this stranger, Andy - to her, he is Henry, and yet he is not. Reminded of everything she once had, can Grace recreate that lost love with Andy, resurrecting Henry in the process, or does loving Andy mean letting go of Henry?

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I don‘t quite know where to begin with this one but to say it was surprisingly wonderful. What an incredible telling of how someone deals with the closest lost only to find that wonder hasn‘t left the world. Without giving too much away, it‘s a book worth picking up.

For those who have read this didn‘t u just feel bad for Andy? I mean the whole time all he wants is a loving family but the only thing people are doing is comparing him to his dead twin who knew nothing about him 🤨. This was ok, I just started to dislike the main characters.

“Grace After Henry” is a heartbreaking yet uplifting story of love, loss and grief and it‘s one that I really enjoyed. I love Eithne Shortall‘s style of writing and felt truly immersed in the story. I‘d definitely recommend it! 4 stars!

#bookhaul #library

I forgot to post my library haul. The tagged book and Killman Creek were holds that came in. I drove to another branch this weekend to pick up the Whitehead for #authoramonth and the two on top followed me home. 🙂

Reggie Have you kept track of the romance writers craziness? There‘s a book riot romance podcast that discusses it for almost over an hour and it‘s kind of crazy. 5y
Bookzombie @Reggie It is crazy. I haven‘t kept track of it lately. I was reading about it a lot for the first couple of weeks. I will definitely check the podcast out. Thanks! 5y
Suet624 @Reggie can you elaborate? 5y

Reggie @Suet624 No because the character limit doesn‘t allow it. Lol. But the reason i Brought it up was because one of the books in this post is by the author it has to do with. Here‘s a link to an article about it https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vulture.com/amp/2020/01/rwa-racism-controversy-... (edited) 5y
Reggie And that is an older article, more has happened since then like the cancelling of the romance writers yearly awards. 5y
Suet624 @Reggie goodness! Thanks for the article. 😬 5y

This was an interesting read... it was sad mostly but then turned out to be funny and enjoyable. I didn‘t understand some of the Irish language but overall i still liked it.

My reading corner at my parents home a few nights ago ❤️ oh how I wish I had a log burner and a comfy chair here! I also enjoy reading in a cafe or in bed. Where do you enjoy reading the most?

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend. I read it very quickly which emphasises how engaged I was. The storyline was interesting and certainly different to books of similar topics.

Just found Chris Bohjalian -almost done with The Sandcastle Girls and liking it and thought I‘d try a few others.
And the other book takes place in Ireland and since I was just there in July - I‘d like to “revisit!” 😀😀

Very good. Easy to read. Loved the twist half way through and how you wanted it all to work out. Characters and story were well developed. Thank you #ReadersFirst for the proof copy.

I think Henry is a secret Litten!! I think we would all do this.

Context: This is Grace talking about Henry and when they first met.

Libby1 Can I go to that party? Pretty please? 😃 7y
Birdsong28 @libby1 I think we all would love to do that 😀📚📖 7y
