Walking in a forest is good because...science!
I'm afraid I had some strong flashbacks to homeopathic type health/self help books I've encountered where there's SOME evidence, but also “is said to“ and “is used for“, which feels like skirting the lack of evidence. I think it's present in the public consciousness that nature is good for us; I don't know that this book convinced me of anything I was not aware of before. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Pleasant narrator.

CuriousG Have you read The Nature Fix yet? I read both of them and definitely preferred The Nature Fix. This one was okay, but didn't quite hit the way I was hoping it would. 6mo

I immediately believed in forest bathing the first time I heard about it and was eager to read this book when it crossed my path. Dr. Qing Li explains the concept of forest bathing, the benefits, and how to practice. He covers the scientific evidence that forest bathing provides medical and mental health benefits. I appreciate the research he offers, as I have experienced the benefits he describes. 🌳

I haven‘t read the tagged book, but that‘s essentially what I did today. We‘re expecting another tropical storm starting tomorrow, so I wanted to spend time outside while I could. The hurricane season has been so long — I think we have another month of it. I‘m happy because I appear to be building my strength back up — walked 1.15 miles without having to stop because of a sore back. Listened to more Danse Macabre. #audiowalk

Quick, informative read about the benefits of being in nature. I felt like the science was a little thin, but I can hardly dispute the general conclusions. It was certainly a good book to be reading while on vacation in the mountains where there is lots of forest, and it made me even happier to have chosen to live and raise my son a very short walk from a wooded park.

Similar to “The Nature Fix”, this book explores how being in nature is good for you. But, it also provides very practical & instructional information about the different trees, their scents and benefits. If “The Nature Fix” was focused on the scientific research done on “forest bathing”, then this book was focused on helping the reader put it into practice. I found valuable info on how to “forest bath” that I will carry with me.

One of my favourite things to do is be outside surrounded by trees (and water) and just soak up the beauty. This book reinforces all the reasons why this is a good decision. I was blown away by how many studies have been conducted that show *measurable* health benefits, and yet how many of us live/work in spaces without access to green space. Definitely recommend this book for everyone!

So having this beauty nephew around for the last 2 weeks has meant a significant decrease in reading time...and of course, I don't regret a second!
I am however, squeezing in a few minutes of outdoor reading while he takes over exercising the old girl who can't be ridden anymore 😊

The #24in48 has given me an excuse to both literally forest bathe (and continue reading Forest Bathing) as well as grow my virtual forest that prevents me from getting distracted from social media apps. The 330 minutes translates into how much time I was reading physical books today, plus an additional 1 hour of audiobook. 13 hours down. Impossible for me to hit 24, but I'm going to keep trucking and see how high I can get! @24in48

CuriousG @24in48 @Kathleenkelly I just started using it last week. I've been on holidays so not using it a lot, but can't wait to really put it to good use when I'm back at work. Find long works days trigger social media heavy evenings and this should help curb that impulse 😊 6y

Kathleenkelly @CuriousG I use it to keep me away from social media (and Litsey) when doing schoolwork. The ocean sounds help to keep me focused. 6y
CuriousG @Kathleenkelly I feel like this would be an interesting experiment with students in my classroom this fall. How many 16/17 year olds will be able to get through a 75 minute class without killing their tree. I'm teaching Psychology /Sociology/Anthropology so it's even relevant to curriculum #insertevilteacherlaugh 6y
