Advanced Physical Chemistry
Advanced Physical Chemistry: A Romantic Comedy | Susannah Nix
4 posts | 8 read | 9 to read
After four lousy boyfriends in a row, chemical engineer Penny Popplestone swears off men until she can figure out why they keep cheating on her. But her no-men resolution hits a snag when the mysterious and superhumanly hot barista at her favorite coffee shop strikes up a friendship with her. Penny strives to keep things platonic, but when Caleb gives her the kiss of her life, she realizes he wants to be more than just friends. Tired of always being "good little Penny," she throws caution to the wind and pursues a no-strings fling with the hottie barista. It's not like they have anything in common beyond scorching physical chemistry, so what does she have to lose? Only her heart. Now, this fanfic-reading, plus-size heroine faces an unsolvable problem. What do you do when being apart is unbearable...but being together is impossible? Advanced Physical Chemistry is the third in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring geeky heroines who work in STEM fields.

vivastory I've got knitting 😄 6y
Reggie @mreads That‘s why I picked this up. But it‘s just her job and they hardly make mention of it other than to say she went to work. I was expecting hard science metaphors but nope. Lol. I still loved it anyway. 6y

This is the #3 standalone book in the Chemistry Lessons series. They all feature nerdy girls who work in STEM fields. That was the tag line that got me. However, Penny Popplestone is a girl in a knitting club, is in advanced yoga, volunteers at a senior center and also volunteers at Planned Parenthood as an escort, just found out her boyfriend is cheating on her. The 4th bf to do so. So she decides she‘s just gonna be “the fun girl” “the no👇🏼

Reggie strings attached girl.” That is until hottie barista Caleb kisses her and then tells her he‘s leaving in a month. There was a lot to love in here, the comedy, the angst, and that strong pull of the back half where you start wondering what you‘ll do if Caleb leaves!!!!!!!!! This was wonderfully cute. (edited) 6y
TheWordJar I already love her mother! 😂 6y
Cathythoughts I know one or two Penny Popplestones IRL ... and I love them ❤️ (edited) 6y

This is the third book in Nix‘s Chemistry Lessons series and it was a delight to read. It had everything that I love about romance novels, two equally compelling main characters, a great love story, and just enough angst to make angst-loving heart happy. Warning, you may also develop a craving for lavender-flavoured lattes after reading this novel.
Definitely check out this book and the series if you‘re looking for a solid romance novel.
