Time for #overbookedclub discussion
Maybe I have an unpopular opinion but I liked the story. It is a bit confusing keeping track of characters, but the story comes together at the end. The only thing is that the ending seems abrupt. #OverbookedClub @megnews @sblbooks #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This story is heartwarming. While it has historical events it is more about the internal story and family mystery. It was predictable for me. It jumps back and forth through time which is not something I normally enjoy, but it was done well. Read for #overbookedclub
I always say that I keep my planners (for personal and professional use) to one day become primary documents. I think that is the idea from this book, but I realize only families will care about the history found in these everyday items or very serious minded historians. Outsiders will find these documents boring.
#OverbookedClub @megnews @sblbooks My month has been consumed and I didn't have the time to read Mira's Diary or the YA novel.
I really wanted to like this book, but I just didn't connect with the characters and their storylines. The only ones I was really interested in were Jean and Donald. So, I skipped most of the chapters about the other characters until closer to the end of the book. I see how it all connected back together at the end, though.

I really wanted to love this book, but I didn‘t. I thought it was a very slow start and I never became invested in the characters. #overbookedclub
Family secrets across multiple timelines linked by 1 object. Usually a recipe for success for me. At 60% I almost posted “did I miss something? Is anyone else confused?” I gave this 3 stars. There‘s nothing particularly wrong with it. But I‘m giving it a so-so. It‘s not a book I‘d rave about. Maybe it took too long to come together. Looking forward to hearing everyone else‘s thoughts May 30. #OverBookedClub
This #overbookedclub choice was not my favorite. For me it was a slow start and I really did not become invested in the characters until the last third of the book. Im still giving it a pick because it was interesting, and I enjoyed getting a view of life in Scotland during these times.
Perfect timing for this little gem of a book. I had just started working on a rag quilt for a baby (not mine) due in September. Really enjoying both. #overbookedclub
Told from various eras and points of view, life is hard for all of us. People can be despicable or people can be incredibly brave and compassionate. People can be destructive or set out to create beauty in any number of ways. Delightful, heartfelt storytelling. Great pick by #OverBookedClub for discussion on May 30. @megnews

Her thrift was ingrained, and she could no more discard useable cloth than she could catch an unnecessary bus.
So much like my Nanny. When we were getting her house together, we found two chests full of cloth scraps.

Finished this quickly with the combination of audiobook & Kindle versions. Very enjoyable. I liked the multiple timelines and the intertwined stories. Looking forward to the discussion. Hope I can remember it all by then. #overbookedclub

My Gran taught me to cross stitch. I remember her making me clothes when I was very young. I remember going through the patterns at the store. She made all my Halloween costumes.

I‘m heart broken that I‘ve finished this book! And still weeping ... a beautiful story ❤️
This is a lovely, gentle read with some history thrown in about the Singer sewing machine factory which used to be in Clydebank, Scotland. It‘s a multi timeline tale, all of which are connected in some way. I really enjoyed it.
A very satisfying read. Follows 2 family histories affected by a sewing machine. Plunges you into the feeling of the historical times.
