On the one hand I‘m proud that I finally – after 2 months or so – found my way back to reading and finally finished this chunkster. On the other hand I‘m a bit disappointed that it fell flat. It was mostly good entertainment but leaves me thinking that I‘ve read it all before.

I doubt that I will continue the series. If so, only if I stumble over the future volumes at a library. To spend money on the sequels, the plot was too much textbook.

Mehso-so

Average. “Not bad“ is the best I can say about it. I‘m definitely not the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to political thrillers and intrigues. But from page 300 on you‘ve got many clues who “Mr. X” is. Plus: The characters. 🙄 All the protagonists are stereotypes. Booooring. And: I felt the last 200, but definitely the last 100 pages drag. *sigh*

Solid entertainment that stays behind the expectations evoked by the radio-review I heard.

The plot and especially the characters are a mix of stereotypes (“Bond. James Bond.” ➕ damsel in distress) and well explained relations.

It‘s annoying to see how things run by the rule book. On the one hand. On the other hand the story has something suspenseful that makes it hard to put the book down. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Been a long while since I last said that but: Missing nothing at the moment. Since the plan for my morning (which was why I got up at 6 o‘clock) sorted itself out, aka needs to be postponed, I did some chores and now the picture above shows that I decided to make it as perfect as it can get at the moment. Enough time for a read. 😍

This book is one of the few ones I own because I bought it and not just borrowed it from the library or picked it up from a free library or swapped it with friends. So you might think that it‘s no problem to delay it. But, you know, since I already started it and am kind of in the middle of the plot _and_ because I really like it, but only am not having the right mindset for reading, I feel like it‘s a unfair leaving it behind. #BooknerdProblems

Seems, I accidentally assigned myself a reading list:

• Jan Eßwein „Achtsamkeitstraining“, 67 pages, due 23rd October

• Jaron Lanier „10 Gründe, warum du deine Social Media Accounts sofort löschen musst“, 208 pages, due 1st November

• Lutz Seiler „Stern 111“, 528 pages, due 1st November

• Martin Burckhardt, „Score“, 8,5 hours left, due 16th October

So maybe I _should_ get my current read going again, wherein I still got 354 pages left. ?

On the bottom right: What I _wanted_ to read in order to be able to soon start the book on the top right – which I accidentally found at my online library in the middle of yesterday night.

On the left: What I will be audiobooking instead now during my coffee ☕️ and an oatmeal-chocolate-muffin after heaving spread hearts and comments here on Litsy for the last, dunno, 1,5 to 2 hours. 😇

Didn‘t answer because I found out that I couldn‘t shoot out from the hip especially the answer to number 3. #WondrousWednesday

So here I try again:

1️⃣ High-level politicians involved in assassination.

2️⃣ Audiobooks for entertainment and distraction. Talking to my significant other for well-being, support and exchange.

3️⃣ Maybe depending on my form of the day. Today: 1998.

I am really happy I read.
I managed 100 pages. I did a good job. Especially because I needed a while to remember the constellations of the characters.

But I recall that from the very beginning on, it has been hard for me to keep the various secret and more secret services with its personnel apart. Who‘s British, who‘s American❓ Which abbreviation stands for which institution and on what side is it❓

(Yeah, its that kind of book.)

#ThoughtfulThursday @MoonWitch94

1️⃣ Yepp, they do. I‘d love it very much _if_ only the falling temperatures wouldn‘t make my life harder again until next May due to increasing pain and less smooth ability to move. But I _love_ how it sounds to walk through dry leaves.

2️⃣ I don‘t plan my reading; esp. not now where I‘m having a hard time.

3️⃣ Not really. But maybe I should try pecan pie. Every other English speaking Litten mentions it.

Buechersuechtling And as always when it comes to playing Litsy-games a shout-out goes to my dear follower and friend Kevin – @RamsFan1963 – because it‘s amazing how he still reaches out for me although I went on seclusion those last weeks. Thank you my friend. 🙇🏽‍♀️🤗 I cannot express how this lifts my spirits. 😘 4y
MoonWitch94 🧡 Thanks for playing! And yes...you should try Pecan Pie! 🧡 4y
Sharpeipup Thanks for the tag! You should try pecan pie but be sure to try one that does that‘s got an entire layer of pecans on top. 4y
RamsFan1963 @Buechersuechtling Glad to help in any way, my friend. 4y
DrexEdit Thanks for the tag! I‘ll put in a vote for pecan pie also, but apple is my favorite. 😍😊 4y

Given that I needed to look up relevant vocabulary before I play #Two4Tuesday and that I am really surprised that @RamsFan1963 still tagged me after all the time I didn‘t participate – here‘s my answers:

1️⃣ I‘m such a chicken, so kooky, please‼️

2️⃣ A witch 🧙🏼‍♀️ because … I feel, the world is through with vampire-books even though I never jumped on the „Twilight“-hype-train. And as for zombies: See 1️⃣ (🐥)

TheSpineView Thanks for playing! I agree on the kooky! 😀 4y

Inform the media‼️

I force myself to pick this up again. First time since August, 7th, I think. I still am not in the mood for reading, my mind keeps strolling around too much to have me feel concentrated. But it‘s cosy September sunshine here dragging me out.

Let‘s see if I manage to complete one hour of reading … ⏱

Starting at page 75.
What again was going on❓🤔

Deifio How did it go? 4y
Buechersuechtling @Deifio I will let you know in 60 minutes‘ time. 🙂 4y
Buechersuechtling @Deifio Page 153 and still counting. Even though I admit to put my read down sometimes. 🤷🏽‍♀️ But I‘m happy I could bring myself to read at all. Never expected that since I‘m so immensely haunted by the troubles of my job … But the book‘s story is getting more and more interesting. Together with the fact that I know it‘s fiction, this might help. Although I still don‘t know what resort the murdered politician worked in. On that he was popular. 4y
Deifio @Buechersuechtling I hope it keeps going well with reading! Sorry to hear about your job troubles ☹️🤗 4y

While peeling onions (for my onion cake debut), I just listened to a feature in the „Deutschlandfunk“-app. It‘s about a 65-year-old habitual criminal trying to find his way back into society. So compared to that, I‘m really a millionaire in a villa and emotionally totally balanced. Even though I still feel really bad mentally and am only functioning.

Today, I feel way better than yesterday but I so badly wait for the reversal.

I was absorbed by the first chapters with Joshua but now the book turns its eye on that trial with Michael, Daniel and that Campbell guy. That turns me off. Additionally, the book obviously is volume 1 of a series – which I didn‘t know when I bought it.

Annoying, because I didn‘t want another book series in my life. 😟

Jari-chan Today, everything seems to be part of a series 🙄 4y

Got quite some pages of this in, yesterday. I forced myself to read even though I didn‘t feel like reading. 🤷🏽‍♀️ But I also didn‘t know what else I wanted to do. Which describes my state of mind during these last days oh so perfectly. Sucked empty.

Jari-chan I'll send you some hugs, if you need some. 4y

Sorry @RamsFan1963 and @TheSpineView – I was low on mobile Internet and needed to use it sensibly. So I‘m late again. 🤪 But thanks for still letting me join #Two4Tuesday.

(1) 6️⃣ 3 of unread books, 2 of those hidden behind closed doors, 1 stack of borrowed books, 1 stack of books for the free library. Plus a big bag of books that were gifted to me. It might consist of 2-3 more stacks. 😊

(2) The tagged book “🇬🇧 Killer Intent” by Tony Kent

TheSpineView Never too late! Thanks for playing! 👍🤩📚💚📚 4y

Once again, @RamsFan1963 tagged me for this late #WondrousWednesdy @Eggs

1. This one‘s tough. Actually, I don‘t remember … But as an adult looking back, it was Michael Ende, Ottfried Preussler and the scheme of childlike characteristics (Walt Disney, „Bussi Bär”).

2. Uhm. Since I‘m not the challenges- or reading-list-type, it‘s just »reading in the summer« for me. Though, I _am_ behind on „Metro“ because I preponed “Leviathan”. ?

3. Tagged.

Eggs Thanks for playing 📚👏🏻🤗 5y
Buechersuechtling @Eggs Thanks for setting this up. 🤗 I especially loved the background picture. ☺️ 5y
Eggs My background images come free with the pic collage app and I‘m assuming “in the public domain”. So many selections 🤗 @Buechersuechtling 5y

Folks, I‘m happy.💗
I wrote an email to my radio station because they broadcasted book recommendations on Thursday which I found dam* interesting – but I couldn‘t recall two of the three titles.

They answered in about 10 minutes time and gave me the titles. 😯 Big love‼️🥰

The only questions to answer now are:

• Do I have enough money to spend❓ (No‼️😢)

and

• When do I go to the bookstore to buy them❓
