A beautifully written historical fiction story set in early 19th century Newfoundland. Eye-opening portrait of a world where the First Nations are in a fight to survive the encroachment on their lands by British soldiers and colonists.
So good! 19th century Newfoundland is really his wheelhouse and I loved this book too. So much about his storytelling is what he doesn‘t say
Kindle deal alert: I was reading the blurb and thinking, “Wow, this sounds great!” Only to see I‘d already purchased it. 😏 That is the problem with e-books hidden away from sight.
1. Yes, but still pouting about the Vikings not being in it. Can‘t believe I‘m saying this, but Go Patriots 🏈
2. Currently -12F and gloriously sunny. Heading to a high of about 10F. Welcome to Minnesota Super Bowl visitors😆
3. Just starting River Thieves by Michael Crummey. I loved Sweetland, so I‘m hoping this is good📚
4. The Galapagos. I would love to see a blue-footed booby🤓
5. OK, off I go🤚

I figured that a Canadian song should pair with a Canadian book. This one is from Michael Crummey, set around the Bay and River of Exploits in Newfoundland. Adventure and intrigue, colonist and aboriginal relations, history and family.
