Wars of the Roses: Bloodline
Wars of the Roses: Bloodline | Conn Iggulden
19 posts | 7 read | 19 to read
The brilliant retelling of the Wars of the Roses continues with "Bloodline," the gripping third novel in the new series from historical fiction master Conn Iggulden. Winter 1461: Richard, duke of York, is dead his ambitions in ruins, his head spiked on the walls of the city. King Henry VI is still held prisoner. His Lancastrian queen, Margaret of Anjou, rides south with an army of victorious northerners, accompanied by painted warriors from the Scottish Highlands. With the death of York, Margaret and her army seem unstoppable. Yet in killing the father, Margaret has unleashed the sons. Edward of March, now duke of York, proclaims himself England s rightful king. Factions form and tear apart as snow falls. Through blood and treason, through broken men and vengeful women, brother shall confront brother, king shall face king. Two men can always claim a crown but only one can keep it. Following "Margaret of Anjou," "Bloodline" is the third epic installment in master storyteller Conn Iggulden s new Wars of the Roses series. Fans of the Game of Thrones and the Tudors series will be gripped from the word go. "

More #bookmail today. I have the set on Kindle, but since screens aren‘t working for me anymore, I bought them in print so I can read the tagged book after I finish the Penman. They are so pretty, but why did the publisher have to change for the last book? It‘s 1/4” shorter than the others and you know that will drive me insane. 😭😭😭

Soubhiville Ugh I hate when that happens! 4y
MsMelissa That drives me nuts!! My versions are all the same size, but the publisher is different so that‘s likely why. (edited) 4y
DGRachel @Book_Fiend_Melissa I didnt realize that the first three were published by Putnam in the US, but not the fourth. That one was published by Pegasus. This usually only happens to me when I have to order some books from US publishers and others from the UK. I ordered all these from B&N. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

MsMelissa I just had a look and mine were published by Penguin. 4y
DGRachel @Book_Fiend_Melissa I am seriously considering going to Book Depository to see if I can find Ravenspur published by Putnam/Penguin instead of Pegasus/Norton. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 4y
MsMelissa Just be careful with the editions as mine are Penguin but are not as tall as yours and wider. The covers (based on the spines) appears to be the same/similar. (edited) 4y

I am just adoring this series! ❤️

The battle scenes give me goosebumps and I can picture everything so clearly! Such exciting reads!

I‘m sad I‘ve only got one more book to read in this series; I don‘t want it to end! 😂

CoverToCoverGirl Loved that entire series! 5⭐️rating from me! 6y

Day #15 Words On A Page 👑 Reading the battle of Towton 🏹 Conn Iggulden is putting me on the edge of my seat, even though I know the outcome of this important battle in War of the Roses.

Just a couple of the #2016booksyoumissedouton on my shelves. I totally #blameitonLitsy. If ya'll hadn't bombarded me with so many awesome books last year, I would have read these right when they came out, but my TBR now runneth over. #readJanuary

TrishB Did you enjoy the Conn Iggulden books? I just didn't like his style......think I'm too spoiled by SKP... 8y
Reviewsbylola I had a lot of trouble with the Summerscale. I was super disappointed. I really disliked Mrs Robinson's Disgrace too but thought The Suspicions of Mr Whicher was fantastic. 8y
DGRachel @TrishB He has a much different style, but while he's a little drier, I think, I have still really enjoyed his books. I've read the first two in this series and the first three of the Genghis Khan books. I like him a lot better than Bernard Cornwall. 8y

DGRachel @Reviewsbylola I am a little worried about The Wicked Boy because I've seen some mixed reviews. The only other thing of hers I've read is The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, which I loved, so I'm crossing my fingers. 8y
TrishB I've read 1 1/2 of this series then just gave up. Haven't tried the Genghis Khan ones. I really like Bernard Cornwell, so perhaps I'll just accept I don't like this style! I was disappointed I didn't like because good historical authors are so rare. 8y
DGRachel @TrishB I hear you. At least you like Cornwall, though. He's prolific, so you've got a fair bit of material. I struggled through his Arthurian trilogy (loved the first one, thought the other two were just ok) and read Agincourt. I felt he went off the rails with Agincourt and just haven't been able to bring myself to pick up anything else. Do let me know of any other historical authors you find, please! 8y

I love this series by one of my favorite historical fiction authors. If you like Game of Thrones, you should really read up on the War of the Roses because it was one of the inspirations for George R R Martin.

BookishTrish Gorgeous cover! 9y
LitHousewife I need to pick this one up. I enjoyed the first book in the series. 9y
