The Musician's Guide to Reading & Writing Music
The Musician's Guide to Reading & Writing Music | Dave Stewart
4 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
(Book). Learning musical notation can be intimidating. But regardless of instrument or proficiency in reading music, there's hope and help for all musicians in this practical guide. Writing in a friendly manner that puts readers at ease, author Dave Stewart starts with the basics: staves, clefs, and how to find the notes. He then advances step by step through rhythm, key signatures, chords and intervals, and how to write it all down. This book is useful for novices, seasoned players who never learned to read music, and pros seeking a refresher course.

Thanks for the tag @BookwormAHN ! Surprisingly knew more than I thought. I listen to a lot of folk and alt now, so not surprised I didn‘t see anything from my usual playlist, but these three have got to be my fav from the 100.

Thanks for the tag @Colly_Beau !

1) Usually I just throw my iTunes on shuffle but lately I‘ve been into Post Modern Jukebox and Panic at the Disco.

2) Seriously can‘t decide. I love music. I tried to put just my essential favorites and I hit my limit before finishing the questions.

3) I pretty much love it all except country, AC/DC and
Lynyrd Skynyrd.

4) Prime, (free)Spotify and Pandora, and iTunes

🤘🏻LOL this is my constant struggle.
🎧Does anyone else listen to music while reading?
🎼What do you listen to?
🎶Any issues?

Bronte_Chintz 😂😂😂 I always listen to something when reading. Need background noise! 7y
Bostonmomx2 I really can‘t have music on unless it‘s classical and turned down really low. Oddly enough though, I can read with the TV On and actually prefer it. 7y
julesG I often listen to music while reading. Something that I can sing along to without thinking about the lyrics. Can't listen to the radio while reading and have trouble reading while someone else is watching TV. (I could never read and watch TV at the same time.) 7y

Tiyas7 @Bronte_Chintz same here. Always need some appropriate music according to the book I am reading, in order to create the perfect atmosphere. 7y
Tiyas7 Such As Gothic Music while reading, Books like Dracula, etc.😅😅 7y
Bronte_Chintz @julesG I‘m a terror for watching T.V at the same time! 😂😂 @Tiyas7 definitely! It‘s all about atmosphere. 7y
AmyG Metallica just makes me read the same page over and over. 😳 So....no. 7y
Weaponxgirl It depends, I can't listen to anything too wordy like pulp or too upbeat. I can listen to someone like frank Sinatra and classic blues stuff but not if the book requires too much concentration. No Kate bush especially, always results in me doing weird handy dance type moves wherever I am 7y
TongueTiedSLP11 It‘s a constant struggle. Some days, I can get away with listening to the Tame Impala station on Pandora, but other days, I need to stick to instrumental (classical or LoFi) 7y
