Looking forward to our book club meeting on Sunday!
My current read for the @litsybookclub .
New month, new book! We hope that you will join us in reading this month‘s book. Questions? Ask @Bookworm83 or @Graciouswarriorprincess .
I thoroughly enjoyed the first part of this book about Janice‘s early life. The description of her family and her childhood through her first marriage included aspects both heartbreaking and inspirational. I wasn‘t quite as engaged with the second part that focused more on her professional life, including both frustrating difficulties and impressive successes. Ultimately, it‘s a personal story full of hope and perseverance.

I really wanted to like this book. I was expecting something like Things I Should Have Told My Daughter, but the writing was uneven and badly needed an editor.
The first section, that dealt with her childhood, was my favorite and I felt like I was getting to know her. After that it became much less personal, and in the end, while it made an impressive resume I did not feel like I got to know Janice, the person.
I finally picked this book back up and finished the rest of Part I this afternoon. I‘m completely impressed by the perseverance and positivity demonstrated by Janice in this memoir.
Also, it appears I‘m inadvertently checking in about every 4 hours for the #25infive readathon. I‘ve made good progress today, but I need to set my books aside for a while after supper to do some school work this evening.

I win my first ever Goodreads Giveaway this morning, and had to wait 7 hours to post it here! #firstworldproblems #addictedtolitsy
There's a Goodreads #giveaway available for the memoir I'm currently reading! Check it out at https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/278347-from-liberty-to-magnolia-in-searc...
I had hoped to finish it by now, but life is crazy busy and I haven't had time to make much progress along with my other reading.
In this memoir the author has been describing her childhood, but she transitions for a few pages to how the land and home she now owns with her husband is a childhood dream come true. It‘s interesting to learn more about her life and see little mentions like this of my local community that is a part of her life today.
From the prologue of the newly released #memoir I'm reading
Janice and her husband go to my church, and I‘ve had the opportunity to hear her talk about the process of finishing this book throughout the last year. I got my copy today and hope to somehow fit it in with all of my other reading this month. I encourage you to watch the short interview from today on Kansas City Live to learn more.
