I never really experienced "teen drama" myself, and still don't really experience "drama". Even so, I enjoyed this book about a teen riddled with angst and self-loathing on a journey that wasn't supposed to be about (but we all knew it would be about) self-discovery. I loved the ending. A cute story about a Florida teen competing in a drag contest. Though it's a pick, there's nothing about it that makes it super special and some of the things the teens do made the mom in me scared (accepting invites to clubs from strangers in a town you're traveling through? 😱...though it turned out fine.) A brain candy book that was a nice way to pass a few hours.

I love the cover. I love the concept. But I didn't love the book as much as I wanted to. I think that is strictly based on how similar it is to Dumplin. If I had never heard of that one then I'm sure this would have been a big winner for me.

I'm not at all happy with my numbers for today but it seems like everything I attempted to read didn't work for me. I did finish 2.5 books in 4.5 hours. I try not to DNF books but this one just wasn't giving me any joy to read so I said yolo. I'm currently right over 17 hours for the weekend so hitting 24 shouldn't be a problem (🤞)

JT is just your average teenage boy in Clearwater, Florida, and is fascinated by drag queensJT‘s biggest dream is to go to college. But in order to do so, he needs a scholarship. Which is why he lets his boyfriend Seth talk him into entering the Miss Drag Teen pageant in New York.

I thoroughly enjoyed this listen. Is it great literature? No. Is it a fun story that I think you might enjoy? Heck yes. A fun listen for a hot summer day.

I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. I had it on almost all day today. Formal review to come.

#SoFarAway makes me think of Drag Teen where he felt his dreams were so far out of reach even towards the end of the book.

This was a little predictable but SO CUTE - road trip, best friends, coming of age, young love, and excellent drag names - what‘s not to love?? I‘m counting this as my book with an article of clothing or an accessory (A WIG!!) on the cover for the #popsugarreadingchallenge

The conversation after I used up a good amount of my voice reading her this book:
"You know, you should invest in some audiobooks."
"But I already have one ??"
"......I am not your personal audiobook."
"If you say so."

Finally making my way through 'Drag Teen' and my mom and I have been loving every chapter (the only way to get her involved with books is if I read to her.) Only 7 more chapters left! 😁😁

We usually go to our small library branch, but today we discovered the main library has a HUGE teen section. I had to make my daughter stop looking when she had more than she could lift! She's telling me to hurry in the photo, because she's about to drop them!😂

I was originally going to give this book 3 ⭐️, but I really loved the message towards young LGBTQ+ teens. Even though we live in a time if acceptance and more understanding of people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community there is still a lack of confidence that teens naturally just have. This book seems to bring a good note towards just loving yourself.

A friend recommended this book to me.

Raced through this humorous road-tripping, wig-wearing, eyelash-batting story of JT and his attempts to win a Drag Teen Pageant. Lots of fun, with serious undertones (ok, so not so under-anything). Messages of acceptance self-belief, and live-in-the-now. Boyfriend, Seth was awesome.

Drag Teen by @jefferyself was the right amount of light, heartfelt, angst, and humor. It was a quick read, for those of you short on time or easily sidetracked. Finally, I found it was a super #positive #book.

I expected more after reading some really fab YA this year: The Great American Whatever, and Exit Pursued By A Bear. The crises were resolved to easily; it felt flat where it should have been fun.

Hilarious and very much like a bizarre road trip fairytale. Unrealistic at times but in a self-aware way, and oh-so satisfying. A definite addition to my classroom's LGBTQ+ shelf.

Drag Teen is everything I expected and didn't know I needed from a book centered on a teenager's journey to go to college by winning a Miss Drag Teen scholarship. The writing is so genuine and joyful that even the stereotypes are easy to accept. Party!
