Perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman, book two in the acclaimed Thickety series is the story of a good witch, a bad witch, and a forest demon, trapped together in a world that is both enchanting and dangerous. After Kara Westfall's village turns on her for practicing witchcraft, she and her brother, Taff, flee to the one place they know they won't be followed: the Thickety. Only this time Kara is magicless without her grimoire and Sordyr, the forest demon, is intent on keeping them there. Kara and Taff will meet other inhabitants of the Thickety in their search for a safe way out, including the infamous witch, Mary Kettle. But can they trust anyoneplant, creature, witch, book, or magicto help them escape, to undo Grace's final terrible spell, and to stop Sordyr's horrible reach from spreading across the rest of the world? Pickpick

The 2nd book of this series, this time Kara and her brother Taff escape into the Thickety, but escape is hardly the right word as they come across one terrifying creature after another. The biggest challenge is learning who they can trust… if anyone at all. Once again some pretty dark things described and I‘m not referring to the forest demon, Sordyr, but a fence called the Divide which was very disturbing. Surprised they are kids books.

DGRachel They‘re so pretty, but they reek. Almost every house in my neighborhood has at least one of these trees in the yard and the neighborhood has smelled like dead fish for the last week. 🤢🐟 7y
CarolynM Beautiful! I didn't want to know about the smell @DGRachel 😉 (edited) 7y

Reecaspieces @CarolynM yes! The smell is not a beautiful flower smell. It‘s more of a musty dead smell 7y

This is the second book of the Thickety by JA White and he is my favorite author. In this book you again go through an adventure and war but goes through one of the biggest beast you could “imagine”. Good readings
