A YALSA 2015 Best Fiction for Young Adults Pick Two years ago, fifteen-year-old Jamie Henry breathed a sigh of relief when a judge sentenced his older sister to juvenile detention for burning down their neighbor's fancy horse barn. The whole town did. Because Crazy Cate Henry used to be a nice girl. Until she did a lot of bad things. Like drinking. And stealing. And lying. Like playing weird mind games in the woods with other children. Like making sure she always got her way. Or else. But today Cate got out. And now she's coming back for Jamie. Because more than anything, Cate Henry needs her little brother to know the truth about their past. A truth she's kept hidden for years. A truth she's not supposed to tell. Trust nothing and no one as you race toward the explosive conclusion of the gripping psychological thriller Complicit from Stephanie Kuehn, the William C. Morris Award--winning author of Charm & Strange.

That was...interesting. Though you pretty much figure out the twist early on in the story, the journey to the conclusion is still a tightly plotted, thrilling, riddlesome ride. Despite everything, the characters are very compelling, and the writing is really gorgeous. While I wasn‘t a huge fan of the twist itself, it made for an interesting story, with a fantastically dark, twisty ending. ★★★½.

2nd for #24in48

I'm 60 pages into Complicit. It's short so I plan to finish it before I go to bed. This is my #24in48 readathon cheer squad. Although, I think they're tapping out for a couple hours. Based on last night's reading activities, they'll be up and running around before I tap out for the night. Cinna is the orange cat sprawled out on the couch cushion. His momma, Katniss, is the white cat stretched out on the back of the couch. Total party poopers! 😸

BookishFeminist Boy didn't they fall asleep on the job! Lol. 💕 8y

I intentionally got pizza & cheesy bread from my favorite pizza place as well as some beer to wash it down. I like to celebrate events and I consider the #24in48 readathon an event! See those carrots, snap peas, & hummus peaking out from the left? I'm hoping to dig into those too so it's not a weekend of just pizza, pop tarts, coffee, & beer. We'll have to see. The id part of my brain is screaming - forget healthy life choices this weekend!

readinginthedark I wouldn't judge you if you were just eating the snacks and junk! No judging during a Readathon! 8y
[DELETED] 1409720085 I'm reading "Tiny Pretty Things" too! 8y

"This second novel by Stephanie Kuehn had me flipping pages, or in my case pushing page turn buttons, faster than you can imagine. It‘s an intense, on-the-edge of your seat novel that I finished in one day." Reviewed by Thalia https://goo.gl/U9tfAA

Super suspenseful and deeply unsettling, and OMG that last page! My first read by Kuehn, but definitely not my last.
