I really enjoyed this story from Luke‘s perspective! It made me want to rewatch the original trilogy, it‘s been far too long. Seeing Luke interact with a potential love interest that wasn‘t his sister was a nice change of pace. 😅 It has quite a few funny moments, but gets quite serious towards the end. The talks about his dad being betrayed by Vader (this is before he KNOWS) were particularly sobering. That last line…oof! 💔😭
The husband and I are staying at an AirBnB this weekend with some friends. This introvert is EXTREMELY grateful for her few hours of quiet morning reading time before the rest of the group wakes up to start the day‘s adventures. 😅
🎧 1st person, Luke‘s POV, wedged between New Hope & Empire Strikes Back. It‘s the 1st 1st person Star Wars book that I‘ve listened to & I really enjoyed it @Jari-chan 🖤
Author of Iron Druid & the narrator did good jobs!
Luke is traveling with R2D2 after the destruction of Deathstar I. He‘s a hero. He has a crush. He‘s still young & looking to become a Jedi Master like his father. 🥺
Luuuke I am your father 😝
New old canon. Fun!

I was surprised to learn that Kevin Hearne has written a Star Wars novel, and of course I wanted to find out how he dealt with this task.
He did well. Very well. Really! This book shows us the deepest thoughts and feelings of Luke Skywalker. Here he's not a knight in a shining airship, but a confused young man, who has to deal with way to much.
And once again: Star Wars writes the best love stories ❤

I think I enjoyed this one even more on reread than I did originally. After all the new films, I loved reading this story through Luke‘s eyes even more. I enjoyed seeing Luke deal with finding his way after that first rush of success after Yavin & his attempts to try to learn about the Force without any teacher to guide him, making mistakes, ecstatic about some small successes, and leery about his first brush with the dark side. #StarWarsBuddyRead
First off the cover is fantastic 🧡 This takes place after A New Hope. Luke is on mission with Nakari, a rebellion sympathizer, to get Drusil, a creature who looks like the embodiment of The Scream painting, to a safe place. Along the way he works on his contact with the Force.

I‘ve read lots of bad reviews about this book but I found it good.
An emotional story post “Battle of Yavin” about Luke Skywalker and his relationship with the Force.
There‘s almost everything in this story, adventure, love, friendship, emotions and a little of horror.
I also appreciated the author's choice to narrate in the first person, as if to make each of the readers a new "Luke."

I‘m having fun reading this! It‘s first person from Luke‘s POV between New Hope and Empire. It‘s a little episodic but Hearne is handling Luke in a clever thoughtful way.
And the best part has to be Nakari Kelen! She‘s a cool, competent woman of color and a perfect foil for Luke. They‘re even flirting a little! I wonder how Hearne will deal with the fact that she doesn‘t show up later... oh. Oh no. Really? REALLY, KEVIN HEARNE?! Boooooo! BOOOOOO!
I enjoyed this one, but forgot to take a photo before it went back to the library. Interesting having Luke‘s point of view of things, not something I‘ve seen much of in the current canon. Not my fave Star Wars book but not bad either. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
“When The #Empire Strikes Back first came out in 1980 and I saw Luke summon his lightsaber to his hand in the wampa cave, I remember thinking, ‘Whoa! Awesome!‘ And then, after I‘d seen it maybe ten more times, I wondered, ‘Where‘d he learn how to do that?‘ My nine-year-old self never suspected that one day I‘d get the chance to provide the answer, and I‘m grateful to Del Rey and Lucasfilm for making it happen.” - Kevin Hearne #QuotsyMay19
Hearne did an awesome job writing about Luke after he blows up the death star but the real star was Marc Thompson's audioread of the book!
He seriously sounded a lot like the younger version of #markhamill!
Gonna listen to all of #starwars books. I love #libby and my local library for making me into an audiobook believer!
With the film "Rogue One" almost here, I keep thinking back to Kevin Hearne's HEIR TO THE JEDI, set on the other side of "A New Hope." Kevin delivers one of my favorite literary portrayals of Luke Skywalker in the months after the Battle of Yavin. Haven't felt a writer captured Luke this well since Timothy Zahn. I need to try more of Kevin's books. #StarWars #KevinHearne #LukeSkywalker #Skywalker #Jedi #SciFi #RogueOne
