I got so much out of this book and enjoyed it utterly. You could even call it delectable. 😉

vivastory Sounds really intriguing! About 3 years ago I decided to retry, with an open mind, all of the foods that I didn't like & hadn't consumed in years. There were some big surprises. Especially avocado & olives. 5y

Many of us are familiar with these tongue taste maps. Did you know they are complete bunk? The original German research from the early 1900s was mistranslated, leading to the development of these maps in 1942 and they persist today. In fact, we can taste all 4 major tastes on all parts of our tongue, except along the center line, which is “taste blind.”

This book is totally fascinating! 👅

I'm in Chicago for the Midwest Archives Conference, and there is a Wow Bao super close to my hotel. 😍 I'm really fond of them, so reading Why You Eat What You Eat seems like good self-reflection. Spicy peanut noodles and pineapple ginger ale are also featured. ;)
