Another attempt at Freman spice coffee, this time including cardamom as well as cinnamon, as that spice is referred to as being a taste component in, I think, Children, but I didn't note it, so it might have been mentioned in Messiah.
Anyway, two crushed pods in the pot has given a mild taste. I might try grinding the seeds with the beans next time for more intensity. One tsp of cinnamon in the pot is about right for me though. Chili flakes soon!

Cathythoughts This is all very interesting coffee news ! So , I might try cinnamon ( or nutmeg?) & grind it in with the coffee beans .... or just add to ground coffee.... exciting ☕️ 4y

Bookwomble @Cathythoughts My first attempt, I tried adding the cinnamon to my coffee cup, but that didn't work well. Adding it to the pot to brew was much better. I think my next experiment will be putting the cardamom seeds in with the beans to grind. Once I've got those two spices right, I'm thinking a few chilli flakes in the pot will give it an edge 😊 Nutmeg sounds nice - it's not a flavour mentioned in the books, but why be limited? 4y

I've finished my re-read of the first Dune trilogy, & loved every moment of it. First time reading them in the individual volumes, with the gorgeous Pennington covers, but I'm still loyal to my omnibus edition, as it's been a stalwart companion for decades. The cover Illustrator of that book, Terry Oakes, also did the Dune section of the Alien Landscapes art book at the back, which is why the worm looks similar in both. Now I'm ready for the film!

GingerAntics I managed to get the first two books when they were on sale for $1.99 each. I‘m hoping the third one goes on sale, soon. 4y

Bookwomble @CrowCAH Thank you for the invitation, though as I've already finished them I'd be a poor companion 😊 I may chuck the odd comment in though, when I see it come up on my feed. I did ponder on rereading the second trilogy, which I've decided not to do straightaway, but if you go on to them, I may join along then 🙂 4y

GingerAntics Online, it says there 6 Dune books. Is it two trilogies together sort of thing or are the back three not as good? 4y

Bookwomble @GingerAntics Personally, I like them as much, and think they as good, however 4-6 are set in the far future of the initial trilogy, so I tend to think of them as two sets of three. That said, you have to read the first three to really enjoy and understand the last three. There's a define arc, but I guess a lot of fans were disappointed that Herbert wound the clock so far forward. 4y
