I'm all caught up now with the Bess Crawford mysteries. This one is a strong addition, despite the lack of wartime nursing description. In fact, the war is over for most of the book, and Bess is on leave in England. Of course she feels it her duty to resolve a mystery for a former patient, and prove that he is not mad. There are also some tantalizing glimpses of what may be in store for Bess now that the Great War is over.
