Heart Spring Mountain: A Novel | 
pickThoroughly enjoyed this story of a young woman searching for her mother. Following Tropical Storm Irene in Vermont, it appears her mother has been swept away in the flooding. The author touches on many topics: addiction, inhabitants of communes and the extended families that result, a hidden Abenaki heritage, the beauty and destructive power of nature, mother/daughter splits and discoveries, and of generations of women lovingly caring for others.
Quotes by Harjo and Berry. (Sorry if the type is too small for some to read.) A great beginning to a book as far as I‘m concerned. A Vermonter writes about a disappearance following Tropical Storm Irene. While this is fiction, the storm and a disappearance definitely happened. The thought was a young man was swept away. He was never found and I often think of him.
I‘m in the mood for a good story. I Have ben in a major reading slump lately. I‘m 5 books behind schedule on my Goodreads challenge! found this at an indie bookstore in NH and it sounds good.

This book got to my heart. For. Sure.
Enjoying the strong sense of place and natural imagery in this meditative multigenerational novel, set in rural Vermont.
so-soDisappointed in this one. Too many timelines and characters and it never really got beyond scratching the surface. I found myself skimming a lot.
