A beautiful and haunting debut novel in verse about an American-Japanese girl struggling with the loneliness of being caught between two worlds when the tragedy of 9/11 strikes an ocean away.

I'm excited for all the middle grade September 11 books that have come out recently. And this one in verse? Awesome! I'm very much looking forward to this read.
I love books told in verse, especially for this age group (young readers, middle grade). I thought it was a good intro to the Japanese culture without being overwhelming, and interesting to hear about 9/11 through someone else's eyes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A young girl is caught between two worlds -- not quite Japanese, not quite American. A contemporary middle grade novel in verse set against the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Pulls you in from the first stanza. Family, mothers & daughters, culture clashes, self-identity
