Bright Young Things
Bright Young Things | Anna Godbersen
The year is 1929. New York is ruled by the Bright Young Things: flappers and socialites seeking thrills and chasing dreams in the anything-goes era of the Roaring Twenties. Letty Larkspur and Cordelia Grey escaped their small Midwestern town for New York's glittering metropolis. All Letty wants is to see her name in lights, but she quickly discovers Manhattan is filled with pretty girls who will do anything to be a star. . . . Cordelia is searching for the father she's never known, a man as infamous for his wild parties as he is for his shadowy schemes. Overnight, she enters a world more thrilling and glamorous than she ever could have imaginedand more dangerous. It's a life anyone would kill for . . . and someone will. The only person Cordelia can trust is Astrid Donal, a flapper who seems to have it all: money, looks, and the love of Cordelia's brother, Charlie. But Astrid's perfect veneer hides a score of family secrets. Across the vast lawns of Long Island, in the illicit speakeasies of Manhattan, and on the blindingly lit stages of Broadway, the three girls' fortunes will rise and falltogether and apart. From the New York Times bestselling author of The Luxe comes an epic new series set in the dizzying last summer of the Jazz Age.

When I think #shortskirtlongjacket I think Buffy. But since I am only using things on my iPad I give you bright young things. Flappers wore short dressed for their times, and the jackets were longer. It fits. #tuneintonovember

brilliantglow Have you read this one yet? 7y
LibrarianRyan @brilliantglow no. I read her other turn of the century series. 7y
brilliantglow Just curious. I read this one earlier this year but ended up DNFing it and giving it to a friend. It's the only of her books I've read but the two main characters were awful and boring. I don't see this series mentioned very often so I'm always curious if it was just me or if it was the book 7y

LibrarianRyan @brilliantglow I think I downloaded it for free. The other series was like and old fashioned Gossip girl and was also boring and throughly predictable. Probably why this one is still sitting on my iPad. But when I get around to reading it I'll let u know. 7y
RealLifeReading Buffy!! ❤️ 7y
brilliantglow To be honest that doesn't sound very promising haha but at least this one was free 7y

Mehso-so

I had a little surgery on Wednesday, and today is the first day I can concentrate on reading again, hurrah!

I didn't enjoy this as much as The Luxe. I kept getting all the characters mixed up, and I don't really care what happens to them, tbh.

Megabooks Glad you're feeling better! 8y

For some reason, I'm having trouble keeping these three girls straight.

MrsTaffy I've read books like that and it drives me crazy! 8y

I started this a while back (long enough ago that I need to start over at the beginning). I loved The Luxe so I'm excited to read this one.

TirzahPrice I started this series and never finished! I think I got about three books in? 8y
Teenta @TirzahPrice Are there more than 3? I am behind the times! 8y
TirzahPrice Oh maybe there are only three. I feel like I didn't finish the series though. Gah now I can't remember. 8y
Teenta @TirzahPrice It's so hard to keep up. Thank goodness for Goodreads and Litsy or I'd forget half the stuff I read. 8y
