Jacqueline Wilson

Beautiful book, so happy I found it in a little free library. The writing is great, a bit rough in parts for a children's book, also a little implausible in parts but for a children's book, that's ok. Apparently there is a version with some beautiful illustrations, I may have to find it. Definitely not my last read by Katherine Rundell.

And with this read I finally got a bingo and I can now get ready the #BookSpin list for May.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! This one sounds delightful - I'm stacking it!! 3y

Finally managed to finish off this challenge I set myself at the start of the year. Moving house is not good for reading challenges 😅

I managed to pick a great selection here - there was nothing that I didn't enjoy, even if some of them were not favourites.

Time to set myself a new challenge to try and catch up with my plan to read 60 books this year..... I am so far behind 😂🤣

I'm not crying, you're crying! So much love for every single bit if this book!!!

This story was so beautiful! I loved it start to finish and only paused it briefly to recover in the middle when it tried to rip my heart out... I will say no more for fear of spoilers, but I cannot recommend this story enough!

AllisonM89 Ooo - what genre? What would you compare it to? 4y
TCLinrow It's a historical adventure story designed for kids (I think) but even as a grown up it's an amazing story. I dont know what to compare it to really; it's got lots of elements of many different stories that I like, but it's such a unique blend! 4y

#OctoberXFiles Day 23: Feodora and her mother have the most exotic job I have had the privilege of reading. Think of them as wolf-whisperers. After the Russian royalty had gotten bored or frustrated with their ‘pet‘ wolves (who are not meant to be domesticated anyway), they need to be re-trained by Feo and her mother to survive back in the wilds, clearly #AWolfAtTheDoor moment right there. I love this. I can just imagine a strong and brave girl standing in front of a building made by men and for men, just taking a breath and continuing like there's nothing in her way. ðŸ‘

"The fact that there are more of us than there are of him. The fact that fire in your soul beats fire on the ground. The fact that love always beats fear. And the fact that it always helps to have wolves on your side." I LOVED this. Beautifully written and illustrated. Reading with my 9 year old son, I loved the feisty heroine Feo and that this book led to us talking about the Russia of the Tsars and the Russian revolution #raisingreaders

Libby1 This is in my TBR. I really enjoyed Rooftoppers. 8y

I've been wanting to read this with Seth since I was blown away by a talk Katherine Rundell gave at a children's book group conference last year. I have high hopes for this one!

Joanne1 What age is this aimed at? 8y
JillR I'd say 9+ at the moment, but only 3 chapters in so can't say if it turns scary etc. I'll let you know! I'm reading it with my 9 year old but it's beautifully written so far and I'd happily read it myself :) 8y

This story is what I would call a fairy tale. It even begins with:
“Once upon a time, a hundred years ago, there was a dark and stormy girl.â€
Feodora “Feo†Petrovich lives with her Mom in the woods of Russia in 1917. They also live with wolves and they aren‘t afraid of them.
This is such a fun book for 10-13 year Olds. There is adventure and a bit of history thrown in too. I love fairy tales based on truth.

I loved this book. when I picked it for my book club I didn't realize it was a children's book, not that I mind them, just not something I would pick for a group.

I always enjoy a strong female lead and I appreciate that there was of course a love interest but it didn't take away from the story. at least not for me.

All in all, a good quick read and worth it.

I'm new to Rundell's work but had heard great things. I wasn't disappointed. The story is rich with historical context and frighteningly relevant to the times we live in. Feo is a brilliant protagonist and I fell instantly in love with her world and her ideology and, of course, her pack. Emotional in places with plenty of rousing moments, proof indeed that stories can start revolutions.

Libby1 Yippee! Another one by Katherine Rundell. I read Rooftoppers last month and really enjoyed it. 8y

Great middle grade novel about, Feo, a wolf wilder in training. A wolf wilder is the opposite of an animal tamer; a wolf wilder teaches tamed wolves to live in the wild again.

This book might be written for children, but can certainly be well enjoyed by all. With beautiful illustrations on every other page, it was a pleasure to read. Though magic is never actually a theme explored within its pages, there was a definite heir of it. Recommended to all.

volumesofthoughts Just finished this, it's 12:40 right now and I so very much enjoyed it. I've always had a little bit of an obsession with wolves and this only helped to fuel it. 9y
