Prom & Prejudice
Prom & Prejudice | Elizabeth Eulberg
10 posts | 27 read | 10 to read
A prom-season delight of Jane Austen proportions. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl of high standing at Longbourn Academy must be in want of a prom date. After winter break, the girls at the very prestigious Longbourn Academy become obsessed with the prom. Lizzie Bennet, who attends Longbourn on a scholarship, isn't interested in designer dresses and expensive shoes, but her best friend, Jane, might be - especially now that Charles Bingley is back from a semester in London. Lizzie is happy about her friend's burgeoning romance but less than impressed by Charles's friend, Will Darcy, who's snobby and pretentious. Darcy doesn't seem to like Lizzie either, but she assumes it's because her family doesn't have money. Clearly, Will Darcy is a pompous jerk - so why does Lizzie find herself drawn to him anyway?

I pulled this book from our 9th grade classroom library. Predictable but fun.
Lizzie Bennet is a scholarship student at the posh Longbourn Academy, where the have-nots are horribly bullied.Jane is her true friend. As a Java Hut barista,Lizzie has the opportunity to see the Pemberly young men,Darcy,Bingley, & Wickham.Lizzie plays piano magnificently in a school concert. In a surprise twist, she meets her pianist idol,a welcome plot line.#pemberlittens

Okay, I *may* have borrowed this book from my daughter, but it was a quick and cute YA retelling of P&P. Longbourn Academy scholarship student Lizzie Bennet meets wealthy Pemberley Academy student Will Darcy. Prom is THE social event and is taken very seriously at Longbourn, though Lizzie has no interest in it or in Will, at first. I have to admit, I love the way the author ended the book!

Prom and Prejudice is a cute and fun retelling of Jane Austen‘s Pride and Prejudice. It‘s backdrop is a privileged boarding school where social status means everything and year end prom is the highlight of the social calendar, this one will appeal to YA readers with its modern and youthful edge.

A fun easy read that wasn't very fulfilling but held my attention for the couple hundred pages. I really don't know why I chose to read it, it's not at all my usual genre.

Bellajo Would you think the classic prom and prejudice would be more interesting? 7y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was disappointed with this one . Not enough depth to the characters and not much to the story either . Just meh. 4/10 ⭐️

Contrary to expectations this was a WAY better retelling of one of Austen's stories than Trollope's S&S.Lizzy is a scholarship student at a snotty East Coast prep school (Longbourne-natch).It's like P&P mated with Gossip Girl. Total guilty pleasure. I bought it for my 14 yr old but got to it first.
