I‘ve genuinely enjoyed this book, there is A Ton of information in it. So if you, like me, enjoy just reading a shit ton about the worldbuilding about books you enjoy id highly recommend it. I would also recommend reading at least the original 3 quarters first but if you really want to read the worldbuilding first then I guess it‘s up to you. It does contain spoilers for the original 3 quarters and the tricksters duology.

Good but I wish there was more new information and less review of things lovers Tortall (aka the only people who will ever read this book) already know well. (I also did not really need so much advice on how to be a spy).

This book makes me so happy. Ordered it for my birthday as a fun thing, not expecting a lot from it. But it‘s delightful. Nicely put together, interesting tidbits about the characters, great pictures, and a timeline! Tortall was the fantasy land I always wanted to visit, more than Middle Earth, Narnia, or even Earthsea. This book makes teenage me squee. Great present to myself!

It‘s designed to look handwritten & is also illustrated - including Cooper family letters & official-looking documents, spy reports with drawn mugshots, notes on Immortals, and more! Includes an indispensable official chronology of Tortall - I have needed that forever! Gorgeous book 💕

It might be a tad cheesy, but I really love how this book (which is written in the format of notes & letters collected/written by one of my all-time favorite characters, George Cooper - #teamGeorge) was formatted to appear like an older text. Really excellent graphic design choice! 👍🏻💯
