A thrilling new urban fantasy filled with magic and motorcycle gangs from Jennifer Rush, author of the Altered saga--perfect for fans of Beautiful Creatures. Eighteen-year-old Jemmie Carmichael has grown up surrounded by magic in the quiet town of Hawthorne, New York. In her world, magic users are called "kindled," and Jemmie would count herself among them if only she could cast a simple spell without completely falling apart. It doesn't help that she was also recently snubbed by Crowe, the dangerous and enigmatic leader of the Black Devils kindled motorcycle gang and the unofficial head of their turf. When the entire kindled community rolls into Hawthorne for an annual festival, a rumor begins spreading that someone is practicing forbidden magic. Then people start to go missing. With threats closing in from every side, no one can be trusted. Jemmie and Crowe will have to put aside their tumultuous history to find their loved ones, and the only thing that might save them is the very flaw that keeps Jemmie from fully harnessing her magic. For all her years of feeling useless, Jemmie may just be the most powerful kindled of all.

At first I was really confused with all the magic terminology, but after a while I got the hang of it. I loved the concept of different gangs with different magical abilities, plus the main gang, The Devils, who happen to be a motorbike gang with leather jackets and all❤The plot was fairly simple, but I enjoyed it, the romance was great, Crowe was😍The ending was badass and Jemmie ended up really cool, it left a bit open too!

Sometimes all you need is a book that is good swoony fun, & this 100% checks that box. The world is really exciting & fairly inventive (magical clans that are also motorcycle gangs!), but mainly what I was here for was the characters & the romance, both of which delivered in delicious ways. The plot was all over the place & predictable, but I didn‘t mind so much because the characters pulled me into it, & the ending still packed a punch! ★★★☆☆.

Quick read but excited to see what is going to happen next. I remember trying to read this before and couldn‘t get into it so I‘m glad I gave it a second chance.

Book 102 for 2017. I really liked the world building in this one, though if I‘m remembering correctly I had wished there was more of it. I felt like it could have been a longer book and had more meat to it. (Pic is from about two years ago, but I‘m sort of missing this hair cut)

I might know a few too many bikers. That's what this cover reminds me of, so we shall see. Plus, that tag line ... #coverlove #YAedition

One of the books I'm #currentlyreading is a dark YA fantasy that is #somethingmagical. Jemmie lives in a community full of different types of magic and motorcycle gangs. It's a fun combination and I've been speeding through it because of the great characters and fast-paced plot. Look for it in October. #arc #riotgrams
