London, 1944. Two young women meet at a train station with a common purpose: to join the war effort as nurses. For Scarlet, its a chance to find her missing fianc?, Thomas, and to prove to her familyand to herselfthat shes stronger than everybody thinks. For Ellie, nursing is in her blood, and her humble background is a million miles away from Scarlets privileged upbringing. But though Ellie puts on a brave face, shes just as nervous as Scarlet about what awaits them in France. When the two friends arrive in Normandy and encounter the seemingly unflappable Lucy, theyre in awe of her courage and competence. But the experienced nurse is well aware of the dangers of the job theyve chosenand even she is terrified they wont make it home alive. Pushed to their limits by the brutality of a world at war, Scarlet, Ellie and Lucy will need to rely on each otherand the power of their friendshipto survive.

So I listened to this book and it‘s a relatively solid book. I read the description and decided I knew what was going to happen. For the most part I was right and then the last like third of the book happened. I‘m glad it ended how it did but I had made up my mind on how it was going to end and it upset me I wasn‘t right. If I had been right I would have picked this book.

I can‘t wait to read this book!!!! I‘m saving it for our beach vacation mid July. It‘s a historical fiction book that follows the journey of two nurses during the war. It takes place in London in 1944. Since I‘m in nursing school this really grabbed my attention. I also like historical fiction so I really think this will be up my alley. The Litsy rating isn‘t great bc only 3 people rated it. If your interested check out the Goodreads reviews! ❤️

BookaholicNatty @Birdsong28 oh my goodness no!!!! I just looked them both up and stacked them!!!! Have you read them all??? 6y
Birdsong28 @bookaholicnatty I haven't read them myself but my mum has read some of them and says they are really good and she isn't a big reader like me so they must be good!! 📚📖 6y

This book was listed as historical fiction but really was mostly a romance book! While it portrayed the dire conditions the nurses faced in the aftermath of D-day quite accurately, the characters were superficially portrayed. The ending quite predictable!

Pickpick

I very much enjoyed this one. Follows three nurses from very different backgrounds as they care for wounded soldiers and risk their own lives following D-Day. It was refreshing to read a novel that focused on the important role women played during the war and the lasting impact it had on their lives. I definitely would like to see if I can first hand accounts of nurses on the front.
