New book review up! Yeah, this book is Halloween based, but better late than never. It was great having you back, Connie.
Here's our thoughts on "Haunted Nights."

This is a good collection of short stories that are all set on Halloween. My favorites were Sisters and Lost in The Dark 🐈⬛️

Haunted Nights is an anthology of Halloween tales. In “Graveyard Weeds and Wolf shame Seeds“ by Seanan McGwire, teenage vandals get their comeuppance by a young ghost when they break into her house on Halloween night.

I always find it hard to review short story anthologies. A few stories were great. Most were good. A couple were not worth reading. Typical, but overall a good read.

I borrowed this one from the library for #scarathlon It covers a lot of the prompts and sounds really interesting. #TeamStoker

Like any anthology, there were good stories, so-so stories, and great stories. It did suffer from s bit of repetition of ideas in that several authors explored the same legend, but at least it gave me a bit of Halloween in March. #horror #anthology #halloween
These days I get most of my reading done on the train. Hooray for public transportation!
I got this in a book swap and am so glad I did! In my opinion, every single story in this collection was 4 or 5 stars. Highly recommend! #horror #halloween
I'm trying to read a ghost story a day from this book.

When I saw the prompt almond biscuit, the first thing that popped my head were these almond cookies.

I really wanted to get to this book this month, but I don't know if that will happen. If it doesn't, I guess I'll just have to move it to November.

Picked this up at the library today to start off my Halloween season reading.
Angus will keep me safe from the ghosts while I read these spooky stories. Unless the ghosts have treats. In which case, I‘m doomed.
Warm summer nights and spooky reads on the porch. #spooky #spookystories #scary #haunted #ghosts #summernights
#TBRtemptation post 2! Recently released. The iconic Ellen Datlow has produced yet another attention-getting horror anthology. 16 never-before-published short stories that explore every aspect of Halloween. Jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, changelings, haunted attractions, masks and terrifying faces, urban legends, parties gone bad, cult movies, trick-or-treating in the future, Devil's Night, and more. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Really about half the stories were good, the other ranged from frustratingly bad to forgettably okay. But two stories were WONDERFUL. “Sisters” by Brian Evenson was creative and laugh-out-loud funny. The story of a year in the life of an Irish immigrant in New York (“All Through the Night” by Elise Forier Edie) was beautiful and heartbreaking.
Evening plans: spoopy stories and pumpkin spice tea in my new mug.

Chills & Thrills for today's #riotgrams. This is my planned read for Halloween. I'm using the last of my vacation time to celebrate the best day of the year properly. #scaryreads #littensdressedinblood #screamathon
Here‘s my planned stack for Dewey‘s 24 hour #readathon! I‘m going with spooky books. 👻
Wraith and Sideways Stories are rereads. I‘ve been enjoying this new anthology, Haunted Nights. The stories all take place on Halloween. I‘ve been dipping in and out of Another over the past 2 weeks. It‘s a little slower than I expected, but I‘m less than halfway in so maybe it will start to pick up. Hoping everyone has a great readathon!
