#NationalPoetryMonth I‘ve read Plath so many times, she still fascinates and delights . I haven‘t read Waxworks but plan to tonight, reviews say she has her own voice, but it must be a blessing and a burden being the daughter of Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes .She paints , she writes and illustrates children‘s books too.

jwashreads She was a remarkable woman. I remember reading her journals and thinking how intelligent and lyrical she was even in her personal time. My own journal would certainly not compare. 7y
batsy Oh! And what a cover. I should check out her work as well. 7y
Leftcoastzen @I love that cover too!I found it at a book sale ,big table , scanning quickly , Frieda Hughes , hey wait, WHAT? shock of recognition,Frieda Hughes! Gotta have it! 7y
Leftcoastzen @batsy the cover is a photo of one of Frieda‘s sculptures. 7y
Suet624 Well color me stupid. I‘ve never thought to see what happened to her children! I had no idea. 7y

" Bronzed as earth, the second lies,
Hearing ticks blown gold
Like pollen on bright air. Lulled
Near a bed of poppies,

She sees how their red silk flare
Of petalled blood
Burns open to sun's blade.
On that green altar

Freely becomes sun's bride, the latter
Grows quick with seed.
Grass - couched in her labor's pride,
She bears a king."

norsulaulu Oh my gosh! That's the handmade journal you were talking about?! It's so beautiful; a poetry journal is definitely the perfect use for it! 7y
kindergartenkat Yes! This is the journal 😊 I've had it for years and I think this is the perfect use for it! 7y
