All Points North
All Points North | Simon Armitage
All Points North is part-memoir and part-excursion. Charting the rugged and uneven terrain of a writer's formative years - from tax problems to probation to American tours, football to family to running away to Iceland - Simon Armitage explores growing up and being Northern. It's about humour, language, writing, film, houses, homes, time wasters, one loose tyre, you, me and all points in-between.

Bailedbailed

I read to page 200. I struggled. I couldn't keep track of time or characters, or maybe didn't feel enough for them...
I rarely bail..but...

I haven‘t read this yet -it‘s on my TBR shelves. Has anyone else read it?

Cinfhen He‘s meant to be a brilliant author 6y
Centique I read it a long time ago and liked it. Although I just had a look at the plot on Wikipedia and I‘d forgotten half of it! I should reread it, sounds like the parts about Sri Lankan history went over my head the first time. 6y
TheKidUpstairs I haven't read this one. I find Ondaatje can be hit or miss, my favourite is 6y
Melissa_J I read it several years ago, and remember liking it well enough. My favourite of his novels is The English Patient. 6y

@Cinfhen
I'm not sure how funny this would be if you aren't from northern parts of England, lived there or were close to someone from there. Other than that it's hilarious 😂 I brought this on a particularly awful holiday and it still made me laugh!

Cinfhen The cover is hilarious 😂 7y

#octphotochallenge This is a more serious take on #ghostorwitch but this is a beautiful, lyrical book by one of my favorite authors. @LibrarianRyan

BarbaraTheBibliophage I love his writing! I'm trying to recall if I've actually read this one or not. Sounds like it's time for a read / reread! 8y
KVanRead @BarbaraTheBibliophage I read it so long ago I really only remember that I loved the writing. I had to go and look it up to remind myself of the plot!😂 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage That's about where I am, but I still don't know for sure if I read it. #bibliophageproblems #badmemory 8y
KVanRead @BarbaraTheBibliophage haha! Yup, have definitely been there. 8y
