A #wineandbook while waiting for dinner to cook. 💛
Emma Pierce is the social media manager for a chain of gyms in California. The co. takes on a consultant to help it expand into New England. He just happens to be her ex's brother who is hoping they will reconcile. But which brother does she really want?
There were places where the text could've been edited better and about 1/2 way through I did think it could've been shorter without any great loss, but on the whole it was entertaining enough.
"“Monster names for monster situations. Silvia only has one eye. She had cancer when she was five and lost it.”"
I think Sylvia lost her other eye, not "it".
I finished this yesterday while writing my soup blog post. Light & a good homage to Jane Austen & her writing. It‘s a clean romance with lots of references to Austen‘s work & quotes that head each chapter. It doesn‘t follow a particular Austen storyline although the vibe probably leans closest to P&P. I wasn‘t 100% crazy about the narrator‘s male voices but I got used to them & the 8.5 hours of the book were pleasantly spent.💕#PemberLittens
Still #audiosouping to this one. It‘s cute & light. The soup is Watercress & Sweet Leek Soup from Jamie Oliver‘s Ultimate Veg ( pre watercress). I got to pick up my library hold of this cookbook earlier in the week by appointment at the door from the parking area. Baby steps to opening. Finished soup picks coming later.
Today‘s #audiosouping choice. I needed something light & so far this is. The soup is a recipe I am building around the “Satay‘in Alive Spice Blend I received as part of a blog event. It‘s meant to be vegetarian satay in a bowl. The base is the spice blend, peanut butter, broth, tomatoes, veggies & chickpeas & it still needs the coconut milk, lime juice & toppings but it smells incredible & tastes pretty darn good so far. Finished soup pics later.
3.5 stars. If it has Jane Austen in the title, I will probably read it. This is a light, palette-cleansing book. The characters had to grow on me, but they end up being more layered than the beginning of the book leads you to believe. I usually find romance frustrating as a genre, and this one definitely had moments where that was the case, but overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
My kids had a literacy night at school tonight, and this author was the speaker. I actually haven‘t read her books, although the one on the right has been on my to read for a looonnnnggg time, but she was a good speaker and very nice. I thanked her for coming to speak and she gave me a hug. :) I‘ll move her books further up my list!
Comfortable read, no surprises. Likable characters, decent pacing. Easy comfort read.
Really excited to read this one :)#janeausten
Very good. Enjoyed it start to finish. Nice take on Jane Austen and the things she can teach us about life and love. Recommend. Thank you #NetGalley for the advance copy.
