Day 5 #MayCharacters
Prompt: Meddles
Mrs Saint keeps meddling in Markie's life, who has moved into the neighborhood just hoping to escape notice.

Bailing at 42%. I don't think I can stand 6 more hours of incessant "It's all my fault" whining from Markie. She's a doormat. The book is super-repetitive (and predictable, at least so far). I own it on Audible (and it's well past its exchange date), so I *could* go back to it if I'm desperate—I just don't see myself being that desperate. ?
#BookReport
Bye-bye, February! I was able to finish 3 books this week, so I‘m feeling pretty good about it. I started Invisalign yesterday, so maybe I‘ll read more to distract me from the plastic in my mouth this week. Hey, it still beats the metal of my high school braces!
I‘m posting this #bookreport before I start my February reads! I didn‘t finish A Warning as planned, but guys, this week was exhausting! Between the impeachment trial and the helicopter crash on Sunday, I felt a bit distracted this week.
This week‘s #bookreport! I finished a bunch this week, and so I started a bunch more 🤷🏻♀️I‘m happy to say that half the books pictured here are books I own! #theunreadshelfproject is off to a good start.
Mrs. Saint is pushy, nosy and bossy. She also has a big heart. The MC, Markie, did annoy me at times.
The author explains physical characteristics just enough to flesh out the characters. #2019favorite
F, J, O and X are left. Now to check by TBR pile. 😁 #litsyatoz
The storyline wasn‘t gripping throughout, but the “mysteries” were wrapped up nicely at the end. I also felt better about the characters when the book ended than I did during most of the book. I went back and forth from liking it to wanting to abandon it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
This is the book I started at the end of the weekend. I‘m disappointed in my progress since the holiday ended and real life started again. What are your best tips for getting more reading done during the work week? #readinglife
After years of accepting her husband's bad behavior Markie's marriage is over because the money is all gone. She and her son Jesse move into a bungalow with the nosy Mrs. Saint as a neighbor. Markie is frustrated by Mrs Saint's meddling into the lives of others while being so secretive about her own. This should be a feel good book, but it left me disappointed.
Starting a new book while we drive to dinner. It so annoys my husband that I never go anywhere without reading material.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. We should all have a Mrs. Saint in our lives.
“To start over in a place where she could stop at the gas station without worrying that people would see what she was driving now. Run to the grocery store without suffering the pitying looks from across the produce aisle, the whispers in the deli aisle.” #needgroceries #scenefromabook @JoeStalksBeck
At first, funny and heartwarming then by chapter 6 it gets sad, repetitive, and boring. Hopefully it gets better. More Mrs. Saint please!
I loved this book of of Defectives, misfits, unwanted and the Mrs. Saint that brings them together. It's a feel goo story of second chances, redemption and love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars.
Sitting in a hotel room in Alabama getting my #LitsyParttofOne on! This is also another #litsytbr book for Kindle.
Halfway through, I felt like it was veering off into tangents. But the last few chapters brought it all together nicely 👌🏻
I thought this was going to be a light read when I started it, and in some ways it is. But it's deeper than that, and yet also flawed. The twist and all the information dump at the end seemed awkward. But overall a good story and a reminder not to judge others by our standards. Between pick and so-so, but going with pick.
I bailed. It wasn't very interesting and Markie wasn't very likable.

I wanted to like this book. It had such potential. I didn't like the main character though and that was hard to get past. I found her to be inconsistent. She put up with a lot from her husband, blaming herself for too many of their problems (which made me want to shake her), but then stood up to Mrs. Saint, to the point of being rude, with no problem. Her parenting style made me cringe. Overall, the rest of the quirky characters redeem the story.
I'm at a choir conference this weekend so not much time to read. But a got a few minutes in on this one.
Time for some fun! This was a Kindle deal that looked light. Trying to cram in a few more summer reads. The craziness of fall sports and back to school is upon our household and my reading time is so very limited.
Sunday morning calls for homemade iced lattes. #currentlyreading
This book was so great. I really liked it a lot.
Overall I thought this was a good book. I had some issues with how much was crammed into the very last chapters. There are some nice people to meet in the story and inspired thoughts of how people can make a difference for others. This was a book I read on the Kindle through the Kindle first option and somehow I thought the title said Detectives rather than Defectives. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to catch my error😩
Mrs. Saint and the Defectives is the story of Markie, a recently divorced mother. From the moment she moves into her rented house, nosy Mrs. Saint is making suggestions and sending her employees to help Markie, despite her protests. Markie views Mrs. Saint as bossy and intrusive, and is determined to stand on her own. Mrs. Saint and her defectives have a few secrets and Markie's curiosity inches her closer to becoming a member of this community.
Loved- heart warming story about the healing power of community and our responsibility to others. Will definitely be looking for more books by this author.
