350 pages and all I'm left with is intense sympathy for White's long-suffering wife and the sneaking suspicion that I will scream the next time anyone describes anything as "nut-brown."

OSChamberlain Exactly how I felt about T. A. Barron describing everything as Azure. The azure ocean or her azure eyes 😤😤 9y
catatonic1242 @OSChamberlain Ooof. That would be worse. 9y

Why did I check this out and why am I still struggling to get through it? I don't even LIKE camping!

BookMusings Boo for camping!!👍👍 9y
catatonic1242 @BookMusings I consider staying at any hotel of lower quality than a Hampton Inn to be camping. Why did I think I would enjoy reading about it? 9y
BookMusings @catatonic1242 I guess sometimes living vicariously doesn't make it any more fun. Also, maybe a misleading title because it might be fun to look at the stars for a few minutes 😉 9y

White dazzles w/ this funny & engaging history of camping in America. From 19th-century woodcraft to backpacking to family tent camping to “glamping”, he covers it all. The chap in which he rents an RV & tries to drive his family across Arizona back roads is worth the price of admission alone.-Rico

Brodytoad My daughter just bought this for her dad @bookshopsc because we saw it on Litsy. It looks great! He'll love it. 📚🏕🌲 9y

I'm always here for "extravagant facial hair". Also, does this mean that hipsters are the creators of modern camping??
