Just watched the biopic tonight. While I think it suffered from some serious ennui in the storyboarding department and failed to refer to her by her earned title of general: it is a very important film to see.

I didn't know there was a movie till I overheard some of my fifth graders, who are doing a research project on Harriet Tubman, talking about it. I was so excited that I googled the trailer. And the actress is petite. Yes! Hollywood usually shows Ms. Tubman as a tall woman with a deep voice. I cannot wait. Has anyone seen it?

LibrarianRyan Sitting it in right now. Previews are starting. 5y
inthegreensandblues I really enjoyed it, go see it! 5y
Butterfinger @LibrarianRyan did you enjoy it? @inthegreensandblues I can't wait to see it. 5y
LibrarianRyan @Butterfinger yes. It was fantastic! 5y
LibrarianRyan Also one of my favorite books about her is You learn about her time as a secret agent which isn‘t thought a lot in schools. 5y

We are studying The Civil War era, and learning about Harriet Tubman. The History Chicks have an amazing podcast episode about her. I become very angry over the history I was not taught.
#startedfromthebottom #timbittunes

ErinGoBragh1011 I learned about her in 4th grade and became obsessed. I was so pissed off about how things were back then and that there even needed to be an Underground Railroad. She is a rock star, and a superhero. 6y
TheKidUpstairs An amazing woman. (And, ❤ the History Chicks!) 6y
Cinfhen Excellent choice 6y
Reggie That‘s how I felt when I read Kindred and read about the day to day horrors of slavery. Like where the hell was all this in history class!! And I read that when I was 37!! 6y

When I was an undergrad, a professor stood in front of the class and said "Harriet Tubman was a necrophiliac." He said this twice and no one but me seemed bothered by the idea that he said the hero of the #underground railroad had a thing for corpses. I gingerly raised my hand and said, "I think you mean narcoleptic." After being conked on the head with a shovel, Tubman suffered from bouts of narcolepsy, not necrophilia. #septembowie

merelybookish Did he appreciate your correction? 😀 7y
Hollie @merelybookish no, he did not! He got all flustered and kept saying "sex with dead people, sex with dead people..." it was basically my favorite college classroom memory! ? 7y
merelybookish I can imagine. It's like something out of a movie! 🤦 7y
