Halfway through and I am still not sure if I like this book.
Just as I thought we were going to discover something mysterious the story has taken a turn towards more angst for the MC. Not promising.

The genealogy story kept me turning pages, but the rest of it was too full of drama for me.
Such a good book! It's a continuation of her other book Root, Petal, Thorn but you could read them out of order and be fine.
Such beautiful writing and I loved the attention given to DNA testing and genealogy and what it really means to be a family. The main character's sometimes wishy-washy nature got on my nerves a few times, but other than that I loved the mystery and search for self. Oh, and if you read and enjoyed the author's previous book you'll find a few beloved characters popping back in to say "hi" ?. ????
Every parent's worst nightmare! First page and I'm already tearing up. I have a feeling the rest of this book is going to gut me!
Haven't really managed to read at all this weekend! Busy getting stuff ready/shopping - it's the first day of school tomorrow. (Yes, yes we start early.) 🙂 But we get 3 weeks in October, 2 at Christmas, and two breaks in spring. 🙂
Started this one (which pubs next month) last night, and it's super interesting so far!! A woman who lost her son to a rare genetic disorder becomes obsessed with her genealogy, and starts uncovering dark family secrets.
Intrigued! This one pubs 8/29 - a woman mourning the loss of her son to a rare genetic disease discovers "an unusual truth" about her great-grandparents. #julybookmailforme
