Trying out Amazon Audible via the free 1 month trial. I've got one credit at my disposal, but I have no idea what I should spend it on. Anyone got any good suggestions that are just too good in audio format to pass up? I want to make sure I use my credit wisely. haha 😄

GingerAntics I‘ve managed to stay far far away from audible all these years. I‘ve shifted away from kindle. Unless you do a lot of audiobook listening, I find it makes more sense to wait for sales through regular services that don‘t charge a monthly fee. 4y

tracy.anne8 I'm not sure if you like autobiographies but Born A Crime and continued to be one of my absolute favorite audiobooks.

lynneamch Don't know is Frank McCourt's are available, but his Irish accent just charms me even though Angela's Ashes is so heartbreaking. 'Tis is also memorable. Having been a teacher, I especially found this one relatable

GingerAntics @monkeygirlsmama I keep putting that off, because I can‘t figure out if you can have access to that audiobook later if you don‘t have the subscription. I won‘t buy movies or shows from Amazon prime video for that reason as well. 4y

monkeygirlsmama @GingerAntics From what I gather you get to keep the books you “buy“ with credits, even when you no longer have the membership. They have an upper level membership that allows you to borrow a bunch of audio books as well, and those would disappear from your collection if you end your membership, even if you had added one to your que previously. 4y

monkeygirlsmama @tracy_anne8 Exactly! I went ahead and bought Piranesi which I saw get some good reviews elsewhere here on Litsy. It was one I was already wanting to read, so I decided to just go for it.

✨It's days like the past three days when I'm suffering from a horrid migraine, I wish I could allow myself to listen to audiobooks. I haven't been able to even have lights on, let alone read. Withdrawals are starting. 🙃
✨So, I'm slowly doing #AbbsHolidayWonderland cards, while watching Bleach and probably going to continue to doze from the NyQuil.
✨Hope you guys have had a better Friday! Any plans for the weekend?! 🤗📚

Kaye Aren‘t migraines horrid ? They totally take over your body. You can‘t function much when you have them. 7y

abbsinwonderland @Eggs they do! I've had them for years. I use to have medication for them, but a side effect was that it made soda taste bad.🙈 I need my soda! I'm use to them, but this is the first 3 day long one in awhile and now I'm just kinda annoyed with it! 7y

abbsinwonderland @TricksyTails no.. my boyfriend and I have slowly been ordering all the seasons from Amazon. We skipped through the filler, which is the most... As you put it animated lol. Certainly didn't help my migraine, but we only had like four episodes to finish from the season we ordered. Waiting for more to come tomorrow 😆 7y

Hey Littens - my friend who is a casual reader (12 books/year or so) is expecting her first child in January. For Christmas I was thinking of picking her up an Audible subscription for while she is nursing. Is it worth it? Is there another audiobook service that is better or less expensive? What do people like in general (I only use my library for audiobooks). I‘d love your thoughts!

heikemarie Added note: I like Audible as a company because they are based in and do a lot of community work and job creation in Newark. So that‘s a bonus. 7y

Reviewsbylola If she‘s not an audiobook reader, what about a BOTM subscription? I still read quite a bit after I had kids, especially when they were newborns and slept all the time. 7y

heikemarie @Reviewsbylola I wanted to give her more options, as she‘s not super invested in reading books that just came out - I feel like buzz and newness are key ingredients to satisfaction with the BOTM subscription. Also figured audio would be better for nursing 🤷‍♀️ she does like audiobooks. 7y

callielafleur I don't know how the prices compare, but I use audiobooks.com rather than audible. The selection is pretty great! 7y

iread2much I just started getting back into audiobooks and I‘ve been really impressed kernels audible. I think it‘s a super easy app to use and it‘s convenient to have it connected to my amazon account 7y
