Beautiful book! I usually sit in the JF area. Today I noticed a new addition called a Lactation Pod. A great idea for nursing moms, but I would be claustrophobic in there. Unless it contains a Narnia-like portal to a magical forest…
Reading to keep anxiety at bay. #charactersreading
What a beautifully illustrated book!
#ReadingResolutions Day 28: There is gnawing #Fear here and anxiety that eats at one‘s insides. Such a powerful, viscerally affecting wordless book. Tregonning, the author, committed suicide before she finished the book, as she suffered deeply from depression. Shaun Tan finished the book for her. Full review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-eTK
It‘s pretty wonderful how the illustrator portrays a child‘s growing anxiety in this one.
This powerful book about nagging anxiety with a kid-friendly, hopeful ending has stuck with me for days. The publication story is equally powerful and I‘m glad Shaun Tan saw it to completion.

Clearly, this is a must-have title. The story behind the book's creation is harrowing and immensely sad. An important title to remind us that people who are in pain tend to hurt other people. And that help is always near.
