It took me a while to get into this book since it jumps around a lot, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. Her writing is wonderful. I'm going to have to go back and reread it to see what I missed.
The further along in this book I get, the more I don't want it to end, when I come across passages like this.
I love Pam Houston's phrase "a beautiful song-of-a-paragraph" but am never going to be able to listen to anyone with a Newfoundland accent the same way again!
I persevered a little and then took the advice of @Amiwithani @Lakesidemusing under advisement and bailed. The story fragments are so short that it simply didn't engage me in anything (except that her boyfriend was a douche). I'm done.
Has anyone read this? I'm struggling. It's memoiry, written in a series of vignettes about the author's travels and her friends/ lovers that she engages with on the way. My issue is that they are so darn short and superficial that I'm not engaged by any of them. Not so far anyway - I'll persevere.
