This one was so good! Campion is beginning to be less of a fun but flimsy Wimsey pastiche and more of a character in his own right. The plot is fun, engaging and has a thriller-ish edge and a tense, action-packed denouement that marks Allingham out from her contemporaries. There's also a line of humour that makes it just irresistible.
Temptation!
Relistening to one of my favourite of the Albert Campion stories. If you've read Agatha Christie and Dorothy L Sayers and haven't tried Margery Allingham, you're missing out. Albert may have started as a bit of a Peter Wimsey send up, but he takes on a life of his own and becomes much, much more.
