Raylan: A Novel | Elmore Leonard
6 posts | 10 read | 5 to read
Elmore Leonard can write circles around almost anybody active in the crime novel today. New York Times Book Review With more than forty novels to his credit and still going strong, the legendary Elmore Leonard has well earned the title, Americas greatest crime writer (Newsweek). And U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Pronto, Riding the Rap, Fire in the Hole) is one of Leonards most popular creations, thanks in part to the phenomenal success of the hit TV series Justified. Leonards Raylan shines a spotlight once again on the dedicated, if somewhat trigger-happy lawman, this time in his familiar but not particularly cozy milieu of Harlan County, Kentucky, where the drug dealing Crowe brothers are branching out into the human body parts business. Suspenseful, darkly wry and riveting, and crackling with Leonards trademark electric dialogue, Raylan is prime Grand Master Leonard as you have always loved him and always will.

Pickpick

🎧 While this might not win a Pulitzer Prize it was fun!

Book 3. Narration was good but if the actor could have read it … ❤️

I watched Justified so I could imagine smooth talking Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) as he‘s written here.

We‘ve got organ harvesting for profit & bank heists, a typical episode!

Short enough to finish in a day.

⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4

Reggie Mmmm Timothy Olyphant… he‘ll always be the Crazies guy for me but that‘s the role that probably got him Justified. 3y

Raylan and my mom say, Happy Birthday! to Oscar Meyer...hope you have a nice birthday, mate! 🎂
(Thanks for doing the giveaway...that‘s very nice of you, Oscar!)
Just to explain the “rear view”: I was combing Raylan to get all of his loose hair out, but little did I know I was creating a reverse mohawk on him—just look at that stripe down his back—poor little baby!

Clwojick Hahahah. Does your kitty mind getting brushed.?One of my boys love it, and one hates it. (edited) 6y
gradcat @Clwojick He‘ll tolerate it for a bit, then he gets a bit squirmy...I‘ve only ever had one cat who really enjoyed it. Josie was a lovely lady, may she RIP. 😍😻 6y

There's been a theme tonight, but I'm in the mood to love on these incredible books and characters, so. The last book featuring U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens isn't the strongest of the set, by any stretch of the imagination, but that isn't to say that it isn't without its charm. It's got its good points, but overall, the plot isn't on par with the rest. Still worth love, though! #raylan #elmoreleonard #raylangivens #justified

JenlovesJT47 I love Justified!!! Timothy Olyphant 😍 Been meaning to read these for awhile, I already own a few of them. 7y
actualdisneyprincess @JenlovesJT47 Yessss!!! Ugh, once you read them, Tim will be even MORE perfect as Raylan, honestly!! And frickin' Walt as Boyd, and Joelle as Ava, I just CANNOT HANDLE the perfection of everything about the show, and Elmore Leonard. (edited) 7y

Boyd Crowder is one of my #favevillains of all time. As is his relationship to the hero/anti-hero, Raylan Givens. They're two sides of the same coin and have a very complicated history. Seriously one of the most complex relationships and villains ever. Boyd ended up being so good that they kept him on the entire run of the show, he became a main character, and Elmore Leonard wrote him back into a later work! #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge

LeahBergen I LOVE Boyd. ❤️ 8y
raelaschoenherr @LeahBergen Right?! I love this quote too because it's so true. He has the best dialogue. 8y
LeahBergen And I *may* have acquired a teeny case of the hots for him along the way... Is that weird? 😂 8y
raelaschoenherr @Leahbergen Nope, I totally see it. Raylan had my heart but Boyd definitely has a thing going on ☺️ 8y

I was already an Elmore Leonard fan before Justified, but oh man, that show. That Raylan Givens. The e-book is on sale today, and well worth picking up if you haven't read it already.
