If you‘ve ever had to deal with looking for a parking spot on a regular basis in NYC, this book will probably tickle your funny bone. Tepper takes his car out of the garage every day, parks in a legal metered spot, feeds the meter with a few quarters and then tries to read his newspaper in peace until the meter expires. This enrages those searching for a parking space. After a reporter writes about him, Tepper experiences unwelcome notoriety.
A delightful excursion through the streets and politics of New York City. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
Loved this book about a man who parks his car in random spaces in Manhattan just to sit and read his paper....
The first 3 times we holidayed in New York we stayed in a hotel on W44th between 5th and 6th Avenues -Tepper‘s first parking space is on W43rd between 5th and 6th - maybe we even saw him out of the hotel window! 🤣
Thanks for such a wonderful NYC book @Oryx - I recall you telling me about it at the #readingretreat way back in April...
Thanks so much for the lovely gifts Emma and Katie!
Emma - I remember talking about this book with you, due to it being NYC based - I‘m very much looking forward to it!
Katie - it arrived today - yay! This is one I‘ve had my eye on for a while and I‘ve picked it up in the shops a couple of times but never actually bought it, so thoughtful of you and of course, it comes highly recommended by you!
I can't put into words how much fun this novel is. It's one of those stories with such a simple premise that you wouldn't think an entire novel could be written about it, but then it takes off and grows into something absurd (in a good way). This is the perfect novel for anyone who has ever had the misfortune of trying to find a parking spot in New York City. But even if you haven't, you'll enjoy this novel anyway.
