pickStill in the vein of military sci-fi, I finished Hammer's Slammers by David Drake, and quite liked it. Drake has a way of writing war stories that emphasizes the realities of the troops on the ground, and how those same troops become policy makers, whether you want them to or not. And for a story released in '79, it has held up remarkably well. Easily on par with Haldeman's Forever War in terms of writing and relevance.
Bear with me: Hubs upgraded my phone for Xmas.
AT&T guy as he's wiping my old phone: Oh, by the way everything may not transfer.
Me: Even Litsy?
Him: What's Litsy *my head on table*
Hubs: Oh dear, you may have ruined her life.
30 minutes later: Litsy there but no content (a few tears here). Then deleted and downloaded app again and it was in iCloud (whew)! After hubs explained you were "Friends" but not ones I "know." Only you people understand!
