July #bookspin pick
So glad this is my July #bookspin pick. This is another title that I‘ve had on my physical tbr pile for at least 10 years now.
The story is split between 2 different time periods. I had a hard time staying interested in the modern half. It was a struggle to finish. I loved the picture of Poland during WW II, but felt like the 2 stories did not mesh well.
“I‘m a terrible cook & not in the endearing way the girls my age insist they are set up they appear liberated.”
“This is the question that wedges itself into the small cracks of his politeness and splits him wide open.”
Grabbed this today! I had to do a little shopping today for swaps and got some good hauls. Will post later! I think if you have read this you have liked it
Today's #audible Daily Deal. It has well developed characters and won the 2010 Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award for distinguished first book of fiction. A granddaughter returns to Poland to trace the steps her grandparents took in their post WWII love affair.
Returning to a favorite book to get me out of my reading funk
I picked up this book at the library because the cover tricked me into thinking it was a light, romantic book that wouldn't tax too much of my cold-ridden brain. Instead it turned out to be a weaving of history and culture into a multi generational story with deeply developed characters.
