Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book
Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book | Seuss
17 posts | 19 read | 2 to read
Celebrate sleep with Dr. Seusss classic rhyming bedtime story picture book. Van Vleck, a very small bug, is getting sleepy, and his yawncontagious as yawns aresets off a chain reaction, making all those around him feel sleepy, too! With typically Seussian nods to alarm clocks, sleepwalking, and snoring, this charming ode to bedtime will lull listeners (and readers) toward dreamland. Zzzzzzzzzz. From the Hardcover edition.

I had a bit of fun with this one as well. This is one of my two favourite Dr. Seuss books. The tongue twisters aren‘t too hard in this one, but still just enough to make you giggle a little and wake up your brain.

Sunday morning reading between podcasting and church. The tagged book is what Minisaurus is reading on the left. 😊

Who doesn‘t like to wake up to some words of wisdom from Dr. Seuss in their inbox!? 💯

SaturnDoo 🙄 me...I'm not a fan of Dr. Suess 😂 I am probably in the minority on that. 6y

This timeless picture book (P) is an amazing read aloud for any K-2nd grade class/young reader! I remember this story being read to me as a kid (the wear and tear is shown with ripped pages and frayed edges). The rhyming and repetitiveness in this story helps children recall the book easier and enjoy the story as the reader follows the contagious yawn.

kennedimartin https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Browse/Search:the%20sleep%20book is a link to a great resource with activities for the story! UDL 7.1 is satisfied if the students are able to pick the poems they‘re reading. Making sure the students understand the basic concepts of poetry (ESOL 6) can be done by having the students write their own poetry! #LAE3414sp19 (edited) 6y
DrSpalding Choice is so important. Nice job aligning your EL and UDL principles. 6y

Dr Seuss is one of my favorite authors so i loved this book. I love the rhyming and now creative he is with his rhymes. This entertains children and makes the story so much more fun

Congratulations on your milestone, @IamIamIam and thanks for hosting this fun giveaway!

This was a book that I wanted my mother to read to me every single night; it must have driven her crazy! The wordplay and the silly creatures made this so much fun for a preschooler. Then I went to school where they were trying to teach reading with Dick and Jane books 😕

IamIamIam Thank you! I love this book but it is LONG! My daughter loves it! Good luck! 6y
TiredLibrarian @IamIamIam It is - and imagine your daughter begging you to read it with her every night! 😖😂 6y

I ❤️ Dr. Seuss. Wisdom at the most basic level. I feel like members of congress should open each daily session with a reread of a Dr. Seuss book. (And perhaps a couple of shots of tequila.)

This was my absolute favorite book when I was quite young. I can still quote passages 40+ years later. As can my 72 year old mother who had to read it EVERY NIGHT for over a year. 😁

cathysaid @Tamra @vkois88 It's the best! Such quirky illustrations and lyrical language. "A yawn is quite catching, you see, like a cough. It just takes one yawn to start others yawns off!" 7y
ValerieAndBooks Your yawn quote actually made me have to yawn!! 😂 7y

A few from our collection of books about as one book put it “go the **** to sleep.” Both my kids were terrible sleepers as babies and the almost 3 year old still rarely sleeps through the night. #odetosleep #tuneintonovember

Cinfhen 😂😂wish that book was around when my kids were little 7y
