I picked this one up because it involved a ghost and I luuuuurve ghost stories. However, it turned out to be more of a coming-of-age story that just happened to also involve a ghost. But that's OK, because I still really liked it. A beautifully written and atmospheric book full of realistically flawed characters that I grew to care about a great deal.
Great cover, but boring book. 😴😴😴😴
#TBRtemptation post 6! Love this cover! After his mom's death, 11-year-old Marcus is sent to live on a small South Carolina island with his reclusive painter aunt. She points out a ruined cottage which inspired her to paint. The locals call it Grief Cottage, and it has a tragic past with ghosts looming about. A haunting ghost story rich in expression. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Finally settling down after a weekend of bday stuff for my daughter and using this awesome tea infuser and pumpkin tea that @Tiffy_Reads got me to go with my book🎃☠️
When 11-year-old Marcus's mother dies unexpectedly, he is sent to live with his Great Aunt Charlotte on a small South Carolina island. As 11-year-old boys will do, Marcus explores the island, its inhabitants, and its local folklore. He becomes obsessed with a story about a dilapidated cottage at the end of the island where a family had perished during Hurricane Hazel in the 70's. I thought this book was very intriguing and quite the page-turner.
Tesla is helping hold the book open so I can read 😉😂#catsoflitsy
My brain hurts from tutoring math and physics all day so I'm done ✅ going to read before I pass out 🙌
Today's all about me #catchingup on #anditsaugust . In no particular order:

Turns out this nifty looking novel is set in my home state! Not sure about picking it up, but it's definitely going on the #TBR .
The title is a huge turn-off, as is a 'serious' 'literary' novel with ghosts in it (c.f. Lincoln In The Bardo), so this one wouldn't be for me: but I love the cover!
Making #ChaiHotChocolate as I finish this audiobook.
Fresh off the On Hold list from the library, and thanks to Deep South Magazine's Summer Reading List - Grief Cottage is my new read!
I usually shy away from ghost stories (I'm a wimp), but Gail Godwin is one of my go-to authors, so I MUST read this. Out in June. First line: "Once there was a boy who lost his mother." @Bloomsbury_Publishing
