✅ Done!
This book is a man‘s musings on his life as he journeys by train. Martens was a real person, and I found the Estonian perspective of the world slightly interesting. However, I was more often somewhat bored by his thoughts on international treaties or his own daily life. Mainly, I‘m just glad to consider the book finished!

I started my quiet Christmas morning with the last day of my Christmas devotional and a few pages of this book with breakfast. This book is less than thrilling, but I‘m determined to keep on with a chapter or two at a time to finish it before the end of the year. Now it‘s on to the final prepping of food and heading to all the family festivities.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas today! 🎄

Another of the #1001Books that I own but have not read yet.
Professor Martens was a member of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the second half of the 19th century. During a train journey from his home town of Pärnu in #Estonia to Russia he recalls many events of his life and meetings with important people.
Martens did in fact exist but I didn‘t know him before, nor his important friends. And to be honest, I didn‘t care.
#ReadingEurope2020 ?? #ATY2020 week 2 #1001books
#WeeklyForecast 02/20
My current reads are Case Histories for the #BelowZer00s buddy read next weekend and The Voyage Out. Both I am enjoying a lot.
Next will be Before the Coffee gets Cold, gifted by my dear friend @CarolynM 💕, and the tagged book, for #Estonia in #ReadingEurope2020.
Let‘s see how far I get this week, with work starting again tomorrow 🤦🏻♀️
I try not to think too much about the next year‘s challenges before the current year is over, but I‘m starting to consider books for #ReadingEurope2020 that are also on the #1001books list. I‘ve added these 3 to my collection with that in mind. I‘m curious if other U.S. readers might be interested in sharing or swapping some books that work for both next year. The tagged book is on my list for Estonia, Zorba for Greece, and Magician for Poland.
Estonia: I loved my visit to Tallin this moning #backpackEurope @JenP @BookwormM
My choices for #planestrainsautomobiles. Originally written in Estonian (!) Kross' novel tells the story of a man who travels by train from a small town to the capital in czarist Russia. Blume=plane & King=auto. This was a fun one! 📚✈️🚂🚙 #photoadaynov16
