#FallIntoReading Day 22: A delightful story of a very hungry lion and all his friends who, for some reason (could it be because, well, the lion is… errr… hungry?), are diminishing, dwindling, disappearing from the face of the earth #GobbleGobble. A really fun book that would make for a wonderful read-aloud, with clever twists in the end. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-enR

I've spent the last two weeks reading this book out loud to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes, and I think I love it more every time. It takes something really special to surprise a room full of 3rd graders-- multiple times in one book! After we read it, I pass out animal cards and we read it again, standing or sitting as our animals disappear. (Great way to visualize "dwindling", too, a new vocabulary word for most). ?#raisingreaders #librarylife

From the front flap: "Once upon a time there was a very hungry lion and some adorable little animals... What do you think happened next"
Sly humour for bloodthirsty children. #picturebooks

Verity Sounds like it might be one for fans of I Want My Hat Back! 8y
Lindy @verity That is exactly right. 😀 8y

Reading #picturebooks like it's my job... 📚 ...because it is right now. Anyone have other ideas for good read aloud books for grades K-2? This project is specifically 2016 releases, but I'm always open to picture book suggestions, myself.

Peaceful_Reader I used it this week with K-2nd paired with Nightime Ninja! 8y
kathyellendavis LOVE Count the Monkeys! But not 2016...other fun older ones are Muncha Muncha Muncha, 7 silly eaters, the forgetful knight. I like Please, Mr. Panda and the new Mr. Panda book too. Oh and Penguin problems is good! 8y

My son got this for his birthday today. I laughed myself silly reading it just to myself, and then I laughed myself silly reading it to everyone else at his party. It just gets better and better. What a book. What a time to be alive.

I tagged this book as my choice for an Instant Classic - it's got that same sly humour that makes Jon Klassen books so great, and sweet art to boot!
