This story would be a great implementation into the classroom for a deeper dive into identity. I also think this book would be a great lesson opener for ideas of what point of view is.
They All Saw A Cat, written by Brendan Wendell is a 2017 Caldecott Honor award winning book. This book had beautiful images with bright colors that jump off the page. The story had beautiful point of views that open up the reader into the cat‘s setting. Overall the theme of the book of identity resonates with me deeply
I would love to use this book in my classroom to describe that we are all unique and see things in a different light, just like the cat! That does not make one right/wrong, and embrace our differences!
They all saw a cat, by Brendan Wenzel published in 2016, won a Caldecott award in 2017. This book was a great picture book showing the different perspectives of how we see the world. There were lots of different shapes and sizes and colors of characters to show the way that animal “sees“ the world. Not only was there lots of texture and color but the theme flowed beautifully throughout exploring the unique illustration.
You can use this story and relate it to science. You could do how different animals' eyes work, preditor and prey, and also the habitats of the different animals that were mentioned.
This book was a Caldecott winner in 2017. The pictures show how different animals all view a cat and sometimes the emotion that comes with that (ex: the mouse). I also read this as a cat being seen by the world as a whole. Being visible and not feeling alone. The different uses of colors, patterns/methods represent texture and feeling.
I think this would be a great book to use in an elementary art classroom when teaching students about lines, patterns, and perspectives.
Caldecott Honor Book 2017
Within the story, there is a lot of contrast in terms of the colors, the patterns, and the perspectives used. I like how there is contrast between different animals throughout. The illustrator uses various patterns to show art through different ways. The illustrators uses dots, lines, various medias (pencils, shading, coloring)

A mindbending multi-POV romp. Playful art and a powerful lesson in perspective. ♥️
This book was a cute book for children. I love that the book explores how a cat might look from different animals points of view. This would be a great book for teaching children about point of view. I love how the underlying message is that it doesn‘t matter what he looks like to other animals, they all saw a cat!
This is just fantastic.
And I‘m not just saying that because I‘m a cat lover!!
This book has beautiful illustrations and simple writing that will not bore young children and easy enough for beginner readers to read in their own! This is a must for a children‘s library! The cat is displayed how a child, a dog, a fish and so on would view him and how it is different for everyone.
This book won a Caldecott Honor award for its interesting artwork that accompanies a cute theme and simple text. It is a great read for a younger audience.
I would use this in a future classroom if the children were interested in pets. It is a very simple book with cute illustrations.

This award winner is a very fun read for younger kids. The big illustrations the book uses will really help keep the students engaged and helps to extend the text further.
They all saw a cat is a caldecott winner. The illistrations in this book are something else. While looking through this book they gave a sense of texture that you do not get from many other books.
Where‘s this book on #Litsy?
Another brilliant book about perspective for little bookworms.

This is a short cute story about a cat. I think children love books about animals, at least I know I do. It also talks about a bunch of different animals that all saw the cat which is educational for young children. Very cute read.
I like how the story begins and ends with a version of the same sentence/idea
This is a good read for younger students. There‘s lots of repeating phrases and words, bright fun pictures, and big easy to read words on each page. It uses a lot of animal vocabulary along with artwork of them.
This New York Times Best Seller & Caldecott Honor MF story is about a cat who wanders around and is seen by other animals and a child. They each see him differently. The child sees something sweet and cuddly, the animals see him as food. Then he comes to water and looks at himself, and the story ends before exposing how the cat sees himself.
