“The rice plains, cane fields, swamplands, mangroves, mountain ranges, the sea that like an eager child scatters jewels about your feet, and then like a mischievous child runs away again, were oxygen coursing through the blood in my veins.”
Do you ever get a hold in and can't remember why you put the book on hold? This is that for me. And the story felt like she was trying hard to making but emotional and deep but it was really hard to follow and just flat.
I SO enjoyed attending a book club discussion at my local library tonight. This is just the second one I've attended, and I wasn't looking to add another book group to my calendar, but I really like the group and book selections so far, so... I'm getting sucked in. 😊 And tonight the librarian leading the discussion brought out a bunch of ARCs for people to take home... has anyone heard of this one? It sounds fascinating! More for the #TBR!
Really liked this book - but not for anyone who wants a fast plot full book.
It's an in depth look at life, love and acceptance. Themes of loneliness, sadness and regret.
Thank you @Cinfhen ❤

After a picnic in the park with friends on a strangely chilly and windy Sunday in June (I was wearing a sweater and a light jacket!), the kids are tired out from their playground play and some soccer, and are watching Zootopia (the 4yo calls it ZooPita) and I'm going to eat my homemade Pandan cake (pandan is a fragrant plant used in Southeast Asian cooking) and read a bit.
Good Sunday to you! (Or perhaps you're already on Monday where you are, Happy Monday!) the plans today are farmers market for nectarines, strawberries and some vegetables, picnic in the park with friends and hopefully I will make more headway into this book and finish my comic. Hopefully the playground and picnic will tire out the kids and they can just watch Zootopia or Ninjago later! How about you?

An interesting & thought provoking story🦀Moving sideways like a crab, this story flows in and out of time crossing years & decades in a lyrical manner & covers multiple themes. A story of gender, acceptance, religion and family. It was engaging but not captivating. 3/5 🌟🌟🌟Morning shake: coconut water, 🍉, 🍓 🍑 😋#Diverse
"And isn't it so that the stories one most needs to know are the ones that are usually the least simple or straightforward." I'm liking this one...#DiverseRead

#maybookflowers day 1: #maymostanticipated
Well I'm currently reading The House Without Windows so that may not really be something I'm anticipating 😂 But definitely looking forward to Shani Mootoo's book!
#aprilbookshowers day 17: #onthenightstand
I've actually just finished my reread of Persuasion so I should clear that off my nightstand. I've been dipping into Stories of Your Life for a while now (2 more stories to go). The same for Why We Write. I'm not sure why I stopped reading Things I Don't Want to Know - had forgotten it was there. But I shall try to finish that soon.
Just got some #bookmail - Anyone reading this?
Also some hojicha (roasted green tea) while the kids do some Easter crafts!
Just found out I won this book in a giveaway 😊I honestly don't remember requesting it! Has anyone read it? Heard about it? Maybe wise Mr @shawnmooney ??? Thank you LibraryThing.com
